Bpm music festival

CAN ANYONE FILL ME IN ON THIS EVENT? IT LOOKS TO BE A EXCELLENT EVENT! I HAVE READ THE LIST OF PERFORMERS AND HAVE TO SAY I AM AT A LOSS AS TO THE TYPE OF MUSIC PERFORMED AT THIS EVENT. IS IT TECHNO DANCE BEAT DISCO TYPE, OR WHAT?. BEING OLDER I MUST BE OUT OF THE LOOP ON MODERN MUSIC, I DID NOT RECOGNIZE ANY OF THE ARTISTS LISTED TO PLAY.
THANKS
JEFF

Blues

What about a blues fest!!!! I would do that in a heartbeat ! I went to the jazz fest last year, although they did not play much jazz music. It was a very nice time!

Yes. Definitely electronic dance music. We're into that so are looking forward to catching some of the shows. Looks like they are selling VIP wristbands for $450 (plus 36 dollar) service charge so ouch.

One person we were talking to about booking accommodations there said that during this time period there would be about 50k twenty something's descending on Playa to rage. Should be interesting.

Not our cup of tea, either. If you don't like that type of music, just stay away from, I think it's 12th and 1st, sorta.

That is true - we were there in 2011 during BPM. It was like vacationing with the cast of Jersey Shore. We're twenty somethings, but that's not really our scene.

Actually, it's Mamitas, Kool, Canibal Royal, Blue Parrot and a couple of other clubs on 12th.
And 50,000 twenty somethings just for BPM? I kinda doubt it unless they are trust fund kids

I dunno. I've been here for all of them but did not attend - for some reason.

I did notice on the other BPM thread that BPM has a history of bringing in industry leaders such as Art Department, Behrouz, Circo Loco, Damian Lazarus, Danny Tenaglia, Dubfire, Guy Gerber, Jamie Jones, John Digweed, Laidback Luke, Lee Burridge, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Nic Fanciulli, Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Soul Clap, Stacey Pullen, Steve Angello, Steve Lawler, Wolf & Lamb and many more.

Huh? I am so out of the loop. I've never heard of one of these acts.
I mean. They are playing recorded music, right?
Oy.

Here is the Website in case you want to know more.
Basically BPM (sort of) stands for Beats Per Minute.

I've only heard of a couple and I listen to electronic dance music all the time and plan on attending a festival similar to this one later in the year in Ukraine as that kind of is my scene. Well, at least it always has been, my 4-month old almost has me convinced that my scene is stumbling to Starbucks at dawn with her...

Yep, they are (mostly) DJs. Yes, they play recorded music. That recorded music may or may not be their own produced pieces.

However, the good DJs makes the music into their own by re-mixing them and therefore creates, for example, a 2 hour track that is made to suite the ebb and flow of the dancefloor. Thats where the skill comes into play, to feel the mood of the audience and to adapt the rhythm for the optimal experience.

Anyway, for the people into the electronic music scene it's an awesome happening! For everyone else, well, there is no one forcing you to join the party.
