Crococun Zoo
My hubby and I love Zoo's and animals. I heard about Crococun Zoo. But, would 2 adults (no kids) enjoy it or be bored? Is it geared more towards children?
The price is much better than the Jungle Place (which would be my first choice) but out of our budget. From Playa, how would we get to Crococun Zoo? I know the easiest would be taxi but does the ADO bus go to Puerto Morelos? |

I think that you all (kids and adults) would enjoy Crococun. I went several years ago and I think that we all enjoyed the experience..........especially walking through the area with 50+ sunning crocs .If I recall correctly, the only somewhat distrubing site was the "wild" monkey that was tethered to a tree......and he was pretty carzy. Take the colectivo or Playa Express to PM, ask the driver to let you out at crococun. To return, walk across the hiway (carefully!) to the south-bound lanes, wave down the colectivo or Playa Express for the return to Playa - they will stop for you (unless already full). 35 Pesos each way.
Colectivos and Playa Express both leave from Calle 2: colectivos between Ave 15 and 20, Playa Express between Ave 20 and 25. If you're already on or near the hiway anywhere north of Calle 2, just stand on the side of the road and wave them down (and this applies to all hotels north of Playa, too). Easy, air-conditoned trip at very reasonable price - 35 pesos at today's exchange rate of 13 pesos to the dollar is $2.70 USD - they do accept dollars, no problem, but don't pay in dollars or you'll only get 10 pesos to the dollar, and if you're trying to save money... |

crococun
I think you will enjoy it ... buy a bag of treats as promoted, but pack lunch for yourselves as it is a bit pricey ... also wear long pants and apply bug repellent .... in spots, the place is loaded with skeeters

Here's how to do it: take a taxi to the Cancun-Puerto Morelos colectivo sitio (or the Playa Express sitio - they're both on Calle 2, a block apart) - or if you're in "north" Playa (north of Calle 2) near the hiway, just flag one down - they run about every 10-15 minutes all day/all nite long (less frequent at nite). Tell the colectivo or PE driver you want to go to Crococun (it's about 2-3 kilometers north of PM), and he will let you out right there. Cross the hiway and wave one down to come back the same way. 20 pesos is hard to beat!!! Suerte Last edited by beam-eye; 08-20-2012 at 08:26 PM.. |
