Emily closely followed by Wilma in '05.

The new condos Corto Maltese are beautiful and well designed and together with Zenzi beach club are not a bad swap...

Just hope it lives up to the rep!

After spending many years holidaying in the UK we FINALLY decided enough is enough. WE WANTED SUN!!! Spent hours in the local high street travel agents, detailing exactly what we were looking for... white sand, clear seas, sunshine, water sports, walking, shops and places of interest to visit only to be pointed at the likes of Sharm El Sheik! Hmmm, not giving up (there must be something better) we got talking to a couple in an Irish Bar in Southport who had just returned from a cruise. Asked them (as seasoned travellers) and they said Riviera Maya! Went back to the travel agents... door opens, light comes on, penny drops, a eureka moment... OMG...PLAYA!
Got a fortnight booked in Sandos Playacar AI and me and the missus are nearly wetting ourselves in anticipation lol

thanks, we have sent them the link. We will be there when you are visiting if you want to get out and about from your AI. We have a condo in Playacar. Our daughter stayed at Sandos and we went there for the day. They were very happy with everything and the food was great.

How I found Playa

I am not sure it I should tell this story here. My path to Playa was quite an adventurous and circuitous route.

In 1987, my brother drove me to Tijuana from Oregon in his huge, vintage station wagon. After a night in Tijuana, I boarded a flight to Puerto Vallarta, but it turned out that I had flown a day too early, and so, I spent the night in Guadalajara to wait for my connecting flight. Once I reached Puerto Vallarta, I was met by my boyfriend's driver and driven to his home on the rincon, in Careyes. Unfortunately, shortly after my arrival the stock market crashed. My beau lost millions in the Black Monday crash and millions more when he pulled out and it went back up. It became a very crazy situation with him crazy on tequila; chasing me with a gun and his friend driving me to the airport.

I spent the night at the airport and flew to Cozumel, because I had rented a house there for a year, before I had left from Oregon. My luggage did not arrive for three days and the house that I had paid for in advance was not available. After my luggage finally arrived, with many items missing, I took the ferry over to Playa to 'get away from it all'.

Playa was endless beaches with very little else. I would spend all day on the beach and not see anyone. I remember the Roof Garden Bar near the ferry, with a craft market below, the orange juice man, a tiny market, a fruit market and couple of palapas on the beach . The roads were sand and I had to go back to Cozumel to make international calls.
