Getting married...need suggestions for a beautiful place

I know Playa and the surrounding areas are all beautiful! But I'm looking for any specific places to have a very small cremony and exchange of vows.....

Here's what we are doing:

Our wedding reception is schedule for next summer here at home. We need the time to save our money and we're hosting it in our yard so it has to be in the summer. However, we don't want to wait until next year to get married and we already booked a trip to Playa using airline points. We are staying with our best friends in a 2 bedroom condo making it a very inexpensive trip.

We'd love to get married on the beach in Playa....we don't want to hassel with arriving 4 days before, getting blood test, hiring an officiant, translator, and all that paperwork. We have a friend who lives here but has a condo in Cancun and he can legally perform marriages here. So we'd apply for our license here at home and do all the paperwork here but have a nice ceremony and exchange of vows with him and our best friends on the beach. Then next summer we share a day celebrating with all our friends and family.

So if you could get married anywhere along the Riviera Maya, where would it be?

We don't need any kind of back drop like an arch.... we just want beautiful scenery. Since it's just us and our 2 friends, no need for chairs, sound sytem, or musicians. So no point in renting a place or hiring a wedding planner.

I would like to hire a videographer and a photographer....maybe get a flower bouquet and have my hair done...but that's it. No point in getting a cake....I have to eat gluten free anyways (we'll have gluten free wedding cake at home next summer) but the 5 of us will probably go somewhere nice for dinner.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

We got married in Tulum last year, we had a civil ceremony in the morning and then a cosmic ceremony with Maria and Charlie at sunset. It was amazing and the favourite part of the day for most of our guests, I highly recommend them if you want something different!

I would go to Tulum as there are so many beautiful parts of the beach. In front of El Pez there is a big rock where the beach has the sea on both sides, that is where we had ours. Or head into the Sian Kaan Biosphere if you want it more deserted.

When are you having the ceremony? My husband is a Videographer but we won't be back in Playa until after the 19th November.

There is a good Florist on 30th opposite mega (Floreria Sac-Nah I think). I used Adrain http://stylingtriorivieramaya.com/ and Christian hairsalon.elsaloncito@facebook.com for Hair and Make up and they were great.

Good luck!

Our friends Harris and Paul got married on a lovely little stretch of beach in Playa just south of Xaman Ha condos in Playacar Phase 1 last December.
In this photo the shaman, Carlos had just arrived and was preparing copal for the ceremony.

I have lots of other photos in my 'Alux and Shaman' trip report linked below- look for the posts from December 8th.

There are some great spots like Al Cielo on pretty Xpu Ha beach where you could have the ceremony and then go to Al Cielo's restaurant for lunch/dinner afterward.... we had a nice paella anniversary lunch there once. The food and setting were really nice.

A pretty deserted, beautiful beach is at Xcacel, sort of close to Chemuyil, I think, and just north of Xel Ha. No facilities there but it is a really nice spot.

And another nice, quiet beach is at Soliman Bay. Take the road to Soliman Bay, go to the right at the end of the road and drive all the way to the end. There is a pretty palm grove and a very rustic restaurant there called Chamico's that serves great fresh fish. You could have the ceremony on the beach while they prepare a nice lunch. Only open during the day....

I'm sure that others will have some good suggestions but there's just a few!

My vote would be for Tulum or Al Cielo at Xpu Ha.
