Thank you to everyone for their advise, it will be very helpful. Still not sure if we will pre shop before Akumal or not, the price of cerveza will determine that as it will be our biggest expense! Any ideas on the price of a six pack XX in Akumal compered to Soriana?

There's a lovely Italian girl in Akumal called Gessi that will do your shopping for you and deliver:

Personally I'd stop at the Super Chedraui in Puerto Aventuras & avoid PDC all together...just as good as Soriana unless you need clothes & etc. I prefer not wasting those precious first minutes traversing PDC in anyway. Quick designated Chedraui exit off 307 right before PA, smaller parking lot, no mall to walk into & closer to Akumal for the cold goods.

Yes, would agree, except for the produce, it can really be hit or miss. Akumal does have a framers mkt, wed/sat, 8-4, so does PA. Much better produce. |

Also keep in mind that they stop selling liquor on Sunday afternoons. I don't remember if its 2:00 or 3:00.
We bought a small bottle of tequila on Saturday night, then met up with my cousin and his family in Axumal on Sunday and decided to come over and spend some time in our condo. That small bottle of tequila ran out real fast!

Mount Gay Rum = Andrew's favorite. Buy in the Duty Free Zone at the border when and if you can get there. |
