PDC Virgins

Hi all!
My wife and I are coming down from Texas at the end of October. We have never been to PDC and we were wondering if we could pull from ya'lls vast knowledge? What are some things that are a must bring? Anything that we may not have thought of! FYI we are staying five nights at The Royal. We have been to an all inclusive one other time in jamacia!

Thanks for any help you can give!!

Congratulations on your first trip to PDC... i am quite sure once you get there, it wont be your last...

since you are staying at an all inclusive, i would check the dress code for their restaurants, they vary...

i can also tell you from experience, dont overpack... huge mistake of mine and hubs first few go arounds... tons of clothes in my suitcase and i wore a bikini and coverup with flip flops almost the entire time..lol

great bunch of people on here so i am sure you will get tons of advice... all good...

just remember, to relax and enjoy...

Thanks mrsr05. Our resort does have a dress code and will bring approriate clothes for that. Although its an all inclusive we plan on eating some meals and parting in playa! Seems like they have a lot to offer! Just can't wait!!! Excitement meter pegged!!!!

My wife & I will be at the Royal Sept 8. Can't wait. 2 different things we are taking are a couple of zip lock bags for keeping things dry & 2 bath pillows for our necks while in the chairs at the beach

things to bring

Biggest things you will need are sun screen, and a good hat, and an open mind... enjoy the people of Playa, don't stay on the resort the whole time, so much to see and do and don't miss Wah Wah bar on the beach for lots of fun. enjoy yourselves and make memories.

Choose comfortable clothes
Bring good sunscreen (I like No AD)
Make a list of the small things that are easily forgotten
--Extra batteries
--Cables
--Chargers
--Small scissors
--Extra film/memory for camera
Definately bring a good hat and sunglasses
I recommend a tablet to load up with books, magazines, movies
Look into enabling an international plan for your cell phone
Buy Mapchicks maps of Playa Del Carmen

Welcome to the forum! I don't have anything new to add other than to add to those telling you how much you will love your vacation in Playa - it will not be your last! Shivors and the others have given you a good list. Especially the mapchick map and sunscreen, memory cards. The latter 2 are available in Playa, just way more expensive. If you buy a mapchick map you will be as informed about the area as all of us repeat visitors -they are awesome - cancunmap.com-Maps and travel guides.Your information source to Cancun,Cozumel,Isla Mujeres & Riviera Maya (or maybe cancunmaps.com). I can never remember which one it is!

We will be at The Royal from the 24th-29th of October. Our 4th time there and 12th trip to the area. If the dates match up we would be happy to meet up and try to answer any questions about the resort or things to do off the resort. If nothing else just point you in the general direction of things.

Things, I forgot/could have used: two small trash can liners (bathroom size) for dirty clothes/undies. Bottle opener.

Always bring a couple bandaids. Wet feet and flip flops cause blisters! Noesporin. None take up much room.

The ziplock bags as suggested are a good idea. Put most of our stuff in them on the way down, but usually just leave any unused tanning lotion, shampoo, mouthwash, etc. Why bother bringing it back? I always go shopping for "more" new bottles before we go on our next trip anyway. Part of the fun of getting ready for vacation. Spare bedroom looks like a bomb has gone off for a couple weeks before the suitcases are all finally packed.

Have fun!!

Wow all great advice so far! What do we do with our valuables we carry to the beach...money/cell phone? Do they have lockers? Not sure I feel safe leaving stuff on the beach while we swim!

Hope that's not a stupid question. I guess cell phones can be left in the rooms...although we never go anywhere without them :/

And I'm talking through the day....on the beach! Not around town!

If you need to have your phone at the beach there are tons of apps that will sound an alarm if the phone is moved. Typically I park my phone in the room and enjoy the silence.
