Day 2

To avoid a forum riot I continue...

Day two was all about hitting up Playas restaurants and then getting ready for Mike Grabows show at the Luna Blue. We woke up vacation late and found another beautiful Mexican morning.

Really enjoyed walking around town in the AM. Quiet and peaceful.

We had been dying to try La Cueve del Chango so it was our first breakfast stop. If you haven't been to this place you are missing out. It is a little north off of 5th but it is worth the walk or taxi ride.

The granola, yogurt and fruit was amazing.

My breakfast

Katies

As we were about to leave a guy walked around with fresh baked breads. We tried both the coconut and banana and I have to say these two were terrific. The breads felt dense but were actually light to eat.

With full bellies we trekked out over to Mega for supplies. Pineapple soda, coconut liquor, dark rum and limes. We bought some other stuff too.

First I had seen these...so I took a picutre. Look not all of these make sense so deal with it.

We get back to the room and find our daily towel art.

Supplies and the purified water in our room. We killed this thing in the week.

Just as we start to decide on what to do next a rain system moved through making up our minds for us. Drinks on the balcony!

Once the rains past and we took a siesta we were once again hungry. We had to hit up Carboncitos for happy hour with two for one tacos el pastor. We get ready and hoof it down 5th to one of our favorite eating spots.

Webcam on 5th

Carboncitos

Salsas for chips. Katie still loved the pumpkin seed salsa.

We got there a little too early so we had some drinks. What? So we started our drinking at 2:30...

Cool couple from San Diego that we talked to for a bit. Cool folks...he was originally from Australia.

Mariachi band that sang us a "happy" Mexican song. As it turns out they were fantastic and happy kinda became the theme of our trip.

3:00 rolled around and it was taco time. So friggin good.

Lunch was done so we decided to walk back up the beach and drink our way back to the hotel.

Caught a quick performance right out of Carboncitos. Always dig these.

We get to Fusion and Katie had to have her Cucumber Vodka. Might sound gross but I promise you these are fantastic and insanely refreshing.

Last year we met the bar tender at Fusion and he reminded us of Dave Grohl. He was still there and still reminded us of Dave Grohl.

Several cocktails, shots of Jameson, and beers later we are on our way.

We get back to the hotel in time to clean up and head down to the bar. Seems they serve beer there. We met four girls from Australia and a guy from England and wouldn't you know it if rounds of tequila and vodka didnt start flying.

Mike and Eric (Bluespicker)

Katie and I. She was feeling really good by this point.

Soon after Mike and Eric hit the main stage some of the locals started showing up.

Anyone recognize these two?

The man...

Steve and Katie cutting a rug

Sue

Rick, Sue, Steve and Jan

Mikes fiance hopped on stage for a couple songs. Was great to meet here and here them perform together.

Irish Drinking Song. We were all having a damn good time now. Like I said...pirate is not Irish.

So at this point I filled up my camera with 29min of video so no more pictures. Katie ended up in the pool (with swimsuit) for a bit before turning in and we hung out until they closed the Luna Blue bar. One of us was going to pay heavily for the drinking...

I must admit that I read this and smirked a bit...just how does one spent the day "getting ready" for a Grabow show. But I read on and found out!

Nicely done!

JG

P.S. You look really scary when you are serious in pics, like I wouldn't want to meet you in a dark alley, or any kind of alley for that matter. But then you smile and you look like someone I could drink beer with.

My last visit I had no trouble constructing it and maintaining it. My balance on the other hand was not very good near the end.
