Doc you are way too funny and am wondering about YOUR gene pool...but then I am a nurse and can appreciate, maybe too much, the humor of the ER doc. The medical humor is sometimes the only thing that can get you thru a tough shift. Work in a little ER here on the Island and also in amb care, surg, and some (avoid it like the plague) med floors. Just a jack of all trades but mostly a beach bum at heart. I would love to work in your clinic by the beach but would a tankini suffice? I could probably scare up some good benzos....being as the drug scene here in Canada, and I do mean the legal ones, is so cheap. At least all the Americans are buying them and millions can't be wrong. A little tongue in cheek there. On second thought maybe a flu shot clinic would be the answer. hahahaha Signage for flu shot clinic....Get your flu shot on the beach, 10 bucks a pop and a tequila with each. Well something like that. Have a great shift.

Keep us posted, La Squish, on the good doctor's plans, or would Brian care to give us some indication as to his schedule? Methinks p'raps he might put in an appearance to oversee the drug screening for the Beach O-LIMP-XX??

OK, so that went through. So somehow I lost my first posting, which was all full of clever blitherings about funding for a beachfront detox unit, nurses Palmtree and Enferma, bikinis and tankinis, drugs from Canada and all sorts of other witicisms. And now it's late, I'm tired and plain out of cleverness, so I will off to bed and reply anew in the AM. Bumper, don't you ever sleep? Cheers, Doc

Look forward to the epistle, Brian. As far as my hours go, I figure I can sleep when I'm old, and I imagine I'll be dead a long time, so I have to make the best use I can of my waking, vertical hours.

Hey Bumper, could your extended use of the forum be because you live in Winnipeg and it is darn cold there right now??? My computer usage is directly proportional to what the weather is doing outside and right now the island is covered in rain!! The sky is that white color and it is so bleak. I keep looking at the great webcam and dreaming. Soon, soon.........It is great reading some of the members trip reports. Well done guys. Sorry you lost all your info Doc, you make good reading. Another time. Take care
Anne

Mostly...though being recently re-retired gives me more time to spend in this neighbourhood. And I know of which you speak, when it comes to Island weather. I used to live in Victoria, Anne, my folks still do - and why I moved to Winnipeg is a story for another day. Ah, yes...Vancouver Island...home of the West Coast Rain Festival...April 1st to March 31. Where spring means the sky turns from darker gray to lighter gray.

Ok here goes. Regarding funding for beach front detox, I have to break it to Cuffed Links and others, that our government seems to be using its funds in other endeavors, and that the detoxification needs of a cluster of drunken gringos on a beach may not meet the funding requirements of the "compassionate conservatives who currently rule our fair land. We will have to explore self pay on some sort of a "sliding scale". You know, like the farther you've slid, the less you pay, or the more you pay, or something. Regarding nursing staff. Palmtree was previously volunteered for this duty by her husband, but other than "looking good in a bikini" (his words), I am uncertain as to her qualifications. Oh wait, those ARE the qualifications. I just re-read the posting for the job. Now, Enferma, I think the tankini is a perfectly acceptable alternative, and I expect our patients will feel that it appropriately meets our corporate dress code, except perhaps on "casual Fridays", when I will wear a Green Bay Packer thong and ask the nursing staff to relax their wardrobe choices as well. On second thought, this may be a bad idea. The increased cost of anti-emetics alone could bankrupt the entire operation! Enferma, please bring as many of them socialist canadian drugs as y'all can! Might I suggest a duffle of benzos, a little BC Bud (for medicinal puposes, of course, pending our supreme court's ruling), and maybe some Zocor and an antihypertensive for O'l Doc. I need to decrease some of my risk factors to make up for the way I treat my body hanging ouut on the beach with you maniacs. I am also struck that I am still catching a little good natured abuse for referring to James as Dave. Wow this IS a tough room to play! I wish I could join some of you folks over the holidays, but I look forward to my daughter and son-in-law returning home from Palo Alto for 2 weeks, such that we will have a full complement of kids at home. My beach buddy, son Seth went and graduated from college and got a JOB of all things, rendering him unavailable for travel to La Playa this spring. I thought I taught him better than that. My lovely wife, Susan, is a high school teacher, so her only availability is during her break from 3/19-3/28, which would result in us missing both Squish and the Bumpers. Hmmmm. That doesn't sound so good. And we may fly to Cali to visit ouur first born during that break. So my options are to talk my bride (the world's most tolerant woman, except maybe for Mrs. B. ) into understanding my "need" to take a trip to Playa right before our trip to Cali. I could possibly free up my traveling bud "Harold", with whom I have attended several Mardi Gras and one Burning Man. He'd fit right in. He loves beer, beaches women in swimwear, and more beer. And he's way nicer than I am. Have to do some "cipherin" as Jethro would say. Cheers, Doc
