Finally! Pictures!

I was waiting and watching on FB. But I am happy to live vicariously through you here as well.

Hold up, though...is this the "beach" in front of NaBalam?? If so, holy shit!

The turtle farm is way cool!!

Last time we stayed there, we had a nice apartment with a deck and the ceiling top deck for our exclusive use. Could see the Caribbean and the bay from up there

Fidel brought us our Miami Herald each morning

Thank you, everyone.

I have some more to post, will do it Monday.

Amy, not in front of Na Balam, that shot was taken from way over to the east side of the point, almost to the rocks.

think I do have a picture of that part of the beach, I will look. There is a narrow beach all along there, still.....unless it all used to be beach where I did take the pic? I never saw this part of the island before.

The turtle farm was cool.....baby turtles are so darn cute.

Really enjoyed your trip report. I also read your TR on tripadvisor. We will be staying at the same place this upcoming February. The reviews sound great and we also booked AI as it was also only an extra 20 bucks pp/day.
We are booked into the deluxe suite, so really looking forward to it!

We Playa Voyeurs demand equal time! One Mags pic for each Don pick!

The pick of the seagulls on the posts reminds me of the Finding Nemo movie...."Mine, Mine, Mine!"

I am always the one taking the pics!

That is too funny you said that. We went fishing one morning and a rain was passing through, we were waiting in the marina building for it to pass. The seagulls and other birds were fighting over fish scraps at the filleting table and I was thinking of that "Mine. mine. mine." Nemo scene.

Okay, I will post the rest of the pics/stories.

here is the pic I could not post the other night of us with our friends before heading to dinner.

A little incentive to behave on the beach.....

more photos from golf cart tour day....

Love the crashing waves and jagged rocks on the Atlantic side.

Our first stop was to pay our 50 pesos each and go snorkeling at Garrafon de Castilla like we did on our first trip.

The fish absolutely swarm you when you go in....this is in about 2 feet of water....this little guy was so tame you could pet him .....he had his mouth open waiting for food for about 15 minutes!!

I confess I could not bear to disappoint the little greedy guts, and went and bought fish food for 10 pesos a container.

The guy at the restaurant was feeding these guys too...

Right across from there is a little reggae place called The Joint.

100 pesos for four beer and guac.

After that was a stop at one of the highlights from last tour, Oscar's Grill....the BEST pollo enchiladas ever! We sat in the back, on the lagoon marina pier/deck.

Then a stop at El Varadero for the world's best mojitos.

Ride home was at sunset....

We did go fishing one day but it SUCKED.

Just SO windy on this side! It was choppy and there were 8 foot swells. Wow that was a lot of fun.

raining before we left...this table sign made me laugh. It is just next to the Brisas Grill, maybe some patrons used to dance on the table?

Both Cyndy and Don were green the whole time...thankfully Jason and I did not get seasick.

Jason had a big amberjack on the line at one point, fell with the waves and lost it. Then they caught a couple of rainbow runners (mackerel) and about four barracuda, once we got back to Isla.

Still can recommed Fausto, he did his best to catch us some fish.

Even though we were AI we still ate out most nights...aside from Comono, we also ate at Olivia one night, Brisas Grill, and Pita Amore.

Our dinners at the hotel were both at their a la carte Thai place, Satay. It gets mixed reviews but we thought it was GREAT!

sushi boat

beef curry

not sure

and the wonderful ice cream served with flaming....cucumbers??

I LOVED the ginger ice cream and the hibiscus and coconut was also very good. We were so happy with the service that each couple tipped them 200 pesos. Kind of defeats the purpose of AI, but at only 20 bucks a day? Very pleased!

most nights were spent having nightcaps (Baileys!) at the Cafe del Mar on the beach. Live music every night.

I do love me a sunset. Yet another nice thing about Isla.

Well, that is really all the pics I took.

soon to be leaving on a jet plane to home....waiting at the ferry

adios, Isla!! Until next time!

Great pics. Thank you!

We were in the deluxe suite. It was nice. Outside the bedroom window was the cemtery, and out the front window/deck was the ocean. Then, going up to the top floor, we had a 360 degree view of the island, and down to the pool.

Lisa has been looking at your report, and it is making her want to go her again, even more. I am keeping my fingers crossed we will be there in May.

We also loved the food at Satay. We did think it was silly, that reservations are required. There was one other couple there the night we ate there.

Love your report! We stopped and had beer and guac at the joint as well. Nice little place. And I believe I met your greedy fish friend too. It was a first for me to see a fish with his mouth wide open waiting for food.

Glad to help with your desire to return! I can see us going back again too.

One night we were walking past Satay on our way to Rolandis and they insisted we come in and eat, we didn't even have a reservation! Low season I guess. I think there was only four other couples there.

And the guys did NOT have to wear long pants in there...another bonus....at so many AIs you have to.

Haha, yes, I would not subject everyone to seeing hubby in the tub nakie.

We did really like having the tub on the balcony, we used it I think four times. Anyone staying at Ixchel could have been peeking at us.

I bet he is a resident. I swear it is the same fish as the one we saw there the first time. There were several silver fish of that species there but only the one who did that. Quite amazing, really!

Yep, we booked Expedia too and are flying non-stop with WestJet. Got a pretty good deal too considering it's high season.
