Well…where does the day go ? I can see this being a challenge to keep up. Yesterday we started out doing the usual first day things…go to the bank and then off to Mega for supplies…all the usual items…bread, fruit, eggs, cheese, salsa verde, salsa picante, juice…oh ya and wine and beer !

Made a lunch and then went for a stroll on the beach…

Ended up at Wah Wah for a beer…Mike Grabow was playing outside…

Went back to the apartment for some pool time…

We got cleaned up for dinner and had a rooftop glass of wine before heading out…

We decided to walk up 5th to 38th for dinner as we like quite a few of the options there although we are very disappointed that Cava Viente 33 is no longer there…they had a great selection of quality Mexican wines. We ended up at Kool Fish.

They had the place all decorated with hearts and stuff for Valentines and they also had a live 2 pc guitar and saxophone duo playing.

Mickey had the prawns in a garlic white wine sauce…I had the fish filet in chili lime sauce…both were very good and with a few glasses of wine came in at about $500 pesos…

After dinner we made our way to Luna Blue…we were hoping to catch up with Babaloo and Sue as we had brought a bottle of Heinz 57 sauce for her (we had seen her post on here how she missed it and could not find it locally). We did meet up with them at LB and much to our surprise Sue had made little cupcakes and cookies for Valentines and packaged them up with ribbons and a heart and she had made one up for us…very nice and very tasty…thanks Sue ! We hung out and caught the first set with Mike Grabow and Bluespicker…very entertaining as always.

Headed back to the apartment but stopped in at Umma Gumma for a drink and to prep them as a stop for the upcoming bar crawl on Feb 25…we really like this place at 1st and 14th as they play all 70’s rock.

After that we were done and went back for a good night’s sleep…the first full day now behind us and we are now starting to slow down a little and relax….sonofdob

Mickey- love the haircut! Very cute
We're hoping we'll get "your" room again . If we do we promise we'll take good care of it. All the best with your own adventure too. (We're scheduled to be first time grand parents on or near June 1st.)

SOD, do not know what room for sure, but think its in the older part upstairs in the trees? Already got the bar crawl on my list got night one. Will be pooped from a full day of travel, but will give it my best shot/ Also in for Manne's on Wednesday. Other then that it will be the usual, Wah Wah during the day and LB, Bad Boys and Fah evenings. Heard that Sue's cupcakes were awsome from several friends. Hope she saved me one!

Our regular room is the one the farubas stayed in last year (thanks for taking good care of it, guys- hope you get it again this year!)- never, ever again will we go on vacation w/ friends and stay in an apt w/ 1 bathroom. When we all came down w/ a virus, it wasn't pretty Thankfully the bad days were staggered, so that helped some. Also, we became fluent in asking for more TP in Spanish

I am reporting about a day behind still but much like us most of you probably have no idea what the hell day it is either…ha ha ha…we’re really starting to get into the zone…even had a siesta today as we were tired from being at the beach !

Anyway…just a quick post and a few pics from yesterday. We had a pretty laid back day around the pool and the apartment. In the afternoon we strolled the beach to find some tacos. Ended up at Playa Maya and had a few shrimp tacos and a couple of beers.

Very good tacos and all in including the chairs was a reasonable $250 pesos…there is a bit of a sand cliff in this area right now but it was steadily being washed down even as we sat and watched.

In the evening we made a run to La Europea for some wine…good selection and decent pricing but it’s hard to say if they have any sort of system as to how the wines are shelved. It seems as though they are meant to be by origin but that is not always the case. Easy trek back to the apartment with four bottles.

We decided on pizza for dinner and went to Romeos. It was busy but still had three open tables but they said they would not seat us until at least one more table opened up. Oh well…Pummarola it is then and off we went. Pummarola was busy as well but we were seated right away and at a street side table with a nice breeze. We had a mushroom pizza and a couple of glasses of wine. Unfortunately the pizza picture is missing ? The service was great and after a while it started to rain a bit and two waiters ran up and moved our table so that we were under the overhanging roof. All in was a very reasonable $250 pesos.

The rain stopped as we finished and we decided to take a walk north on 5th…but not more than a block away it started to rain again…torrential rain. The streets emptied as everyone hurried into bars and shops to wait it out as did we.

Well after about 20 mins it was still pouring so we decided to just get soaked and head home…of course as soon as we did the rain got even heavier. We trudged on…the only people on the street at this point. Got home and dried off and finished off the night with a glass of wine on the balcony as the rain had now stopped…ha ha ha.

Great job with the report so far!

I'll have to head down to Wah Wah's and listen to Mike Grabow play. I liked when he played in the afternoon at Wicky's back in 2011 when we were staying at El Faro.
