Finally, We Sleep in Mexico

Wish I had stumbled across this forum two months' ago when blindly trying to figure out 'where' we wanted to bunk for our 1st land trip to Mexico. We've made several port stops over the years when cruising.

DH & I visited Cozumel and Costa Maya in January on a cruise and decided we had to take more time to just relax and soak up the atmosphere. We're in high gear starting our pre-retirement travel early.

Started out with a reservation in Cancun but decided we wanted less of the party atmosphere. Didn't want to venture too far from the airport 1st trip & Playa del Secreto beaches got great marks from Fodor's, so I promptly booked the VIM (Valentin). Seems to be a good fit and with the youngest kiddo in College an AI sounds divine

Look forward to digging around here for hints.

Is not that hotel about half hour drive to Playa del Carmen?

was told 20 min, hotel supposed to have a shuttle into town, if not will arrange transport.

other than seeking R&R chichen itza is focus of trip. Maybe Xcaret if we're feeling ambitious. Figured the resort's location a compromise between bustle of cancun and playa del carmen 'proper'. Next trip we'll likely pick one of the larger resorts further south.

Hope you guys have a great trip and welcome to the site... Unfortunatly staying out of town you will miss out on alot. Visit Playa both day and night and perhaps next time you will stay in town. Perhaps I should not tell people that, as the less that know the secret the better. LOL
