If you could pick a beach club in Cozumel.

I know we want to take a day and ferry over to Cozumel, but I was wondering if you wanted to have lunch, a few drinks and do some great snorkeling right there, what beach club would you go to?
Does it have a cover?
Do they rent snorkel gear?
Is there a better day of the week to go (less cruise ship traffic) ?

Thank you in advance for your reply.
As far as I am concerned, this is the best site, with the most information and the best peeps around.

If your going to snorkel I'd pick a day with less ships. Once the cruise ships dump a few 100 people in the water it really stirs it up. It's really hard relax and enjoy snorkeling when there's a new group swimming by every few minutes.

I agree, David. Do you know what days they dock?
With my luck it's every day.

Most time no cruise on Sunday!! Great day for Cozumel as it is much quieter and there is also fun stuff going on in the Town Square on sundays with all the locals. (right as you get off the ferry)

I would recommend Buccanero's (on the north end). Great beach club! Awesome food....we spent several days there as we could walk from The Coral Princess. Has snorkeling and also rentals if needed......

Have FUN!!

Money bar is pretty good. Food and drink is good and a decent price. More american mexican food but still good. Lots of snorkel excursions set in just off shore there so that says something
We will hit tge money bar with snorkel gear during our next trip

Our favorite is Mr. Sancho's Beach Club. They have an open-air restaurant as well as a small swimming pool, which is a nice extra.

I don't recall there being a cover charge, but they do expect you to buy food and drinks if you are sitting on their beach chairs.

I don't think there's good snorkeling there, though (at least I don't remember there being).

I've only been to the one beach bar on Cozumel and that was Palancar Beach Club. We really enjoyed it. There is great snorkelling, and the food, drinks and service was great. We (everyone except me, lol) rented snorkel gear at MaryMar, which is a little shop near a gas station up near Margaritaville, I believe. We found out about it through the nice lady at Isis Rentadora where we rented our convertible Beetle for the day. Here's some photos of our trip:

Thank you all for the great ideas... I have a lot to think about.
Might rent a car for the day now, just so we don't miss anything.

It might be just as easy to rent a taxi for the day.

Although not for snokelling, I would not miss seeing the east side of Coz. Absolutely stunning. And my beach bar of choice on that side....Coconuts.

We rented a taxi for the day so we could "test" margaritas and such.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject, but.....
ok, so I hire a taxi... does he just wait for us (if we wanted to check out a few places) then take us to the next place, etc. for an afternoon? What might that run for say, 4-5 hours?
Or would renting a car be better?
I suppose the driver would have good knowledge of places we might want to get to.
I have been on the other side and loved it, Coconut's was fun as was the place at the south end with the Bob Marley theme. might do that.
My main reason for all of this is that my travel buddy has never been to Mexico and I want to show her the things she wants to see, and a few she didn't know about....
I may be over thinking all this, but I sure an enjoying it.
(almost single digits now *giggles*)

I'm not sure how much a taxi would be but yes, you could have the driver stop and wait wherever you wanted to stop along the way.

We like to rent a vw bug and drive ourselves around the island, but we have a driver who is willing to take it VERY easy on the drinking.

we rented a car a couple times and this last time we rented a taxi for the day because i couldnt drive. he took us to all the spots that we would normally visit, he hung out and waited for us, and was happy to drive us to the next spot. not too much conversation, but oh well.
grab a cab if you plan on having a drinks at all the stops. if not, then rent a car. i think we paid 100 plus a very nice tip for the 4 us.
when we are down next we'll rent a car again...cuz im not going to be drinking just snorkeling and taking in the sites. love the rasta bar at the very south east corner.
