Question

Wow you look like you had an amazing time! I'm leaving in a couple of weeks and was wondering if you can have your jacuzzi filled up for no extra charge? I stayed at the royal suites yucatan last year and I loved that you could have the butler fill up your jacuzzi and leave a bottle of champagne for no extra charge (this never included any fancy decoration just simply drawin a bubble bath in the jacuzzi)
also how was the house wine there? are you able to have bottles sent to the room?
Thanks!

To be honest, I'm not quite certain. The butler service (available in some of the higher-end suite categories) is a fairly new thing at the RPDC and we didn't take advantage of it. The evening turn down maid can probably look after filling it for you if you ask nicely and slide her a few extra pesos.

If you are a wine lover, you'll probably be disappointed by the house wine. They have a lengthy wine list, most of which comes with a surcharge. Room service will be happy to send a bottle for you, or you can head down to the 24-Hour Lounge at any time and pick up any of the bottles that are in the large wooden rack, or in the small fridge under the main counter. These are all free of charge.

Enjoy!

You can contact the romance concierge and they arrange having champagne and the jacuzzi filled before you get back in the evening, but there was a charge. Maybe that's changed? Have you posted this question on TA, there are hundreds of knowlegabe Royal fans there. There is also a FB page, I stayed at the Royal in PDC and loved it, or something like that. I agree with Y2YTRAVELLER, if you are a wine lover, order off the wine menus. They have wine tastings during the week, in the 24 hour club, I've attend them (and the tequilla tastings at the tequilla bar under the canal) and found them very informative and fun!

Joeykt-when we honeymooned at the Royal in 2008 we stayed in a Oceanfront suite and we could have our jacuzzi filled & added rose petals if we asked for it ahead of time. There was no additional charge but we never asked for champagne, we'd call room service every night for that. We'd ask for 4 glasses of champagne with strawberries and chocolate cake & would get a full bottle of bubbly every time.

I've read on Trip Advisor that this service is now approximately $20 but includes more rose petals, candles, etc. I would also recommend emailing the romance concierege and seeing what your options are. I do know that they still light the aromatherapy at the evening turn down...I can't wait for that this July!

I should also add: wine lovers should make a point of getting to know Carlos, the head sommelier. He is extremely knowledgeable regarding the Royal's extensive wine list and spends several weeks every year visiting wineries in Europe and South America.

He's also a very entertaining guy who is a pleasure to deal with. He hosts both the wine tasting and tequila tasting on different nights of the week; both are definitely worth your time.

Loved, loved, loved your report!! Your pictures were spectacular...looks like the 4 of you had a wonderful time!

I've been researching a trip for me and my hubby this fall, was thinking about maybe Aruba since we've been to Playa before. We have always wanted to stay at the Royal though and your report may have been the thing that puts this at the top of our list!! Great job!!

Thanks! We certainly did. It's hard to believe it's been over three months since we returned home .

Please post a trip report if you stay at the Royal this August. It will be a year until our next stay and I need something to help get me through the winter.

Construction update.

Thanks for all the info guys. Great report.
My wife and I really enjoy RPDC. We go in October each year and have always booked room 535 or 538.
This year we thought we would try one of the newest swim up suites, probably away from the beach. (Less noise).
We know about the construction next door and are wondering what you noticed.
How much noise is there between Uxmal and Tulum.

PS we think the rpdc is the best spot in Playa

We just returned three weeks ago. We spent most of our time at the quiet pool. Honestly we didn't notice the noise from the construction much at all!

Well, 20 months have passed since our last trip to Playa - the longest interval between visits since we started vacationing there in 2006....

After spending my last two vacations in the far north of this continent, I am long overdue for a week in the Caribbean sun!

So, in five days, we head back to the RPDC for our 8th stay at that fine establishment. A trip report with (hopefully) plenty of photos is promised when I return. Stay tuned....

We just booked our 3rd trip to RPDC for late this April...except this time we're taking my sister and her GF. I couldn't be more excited so I keep on coming to this thread to see if you have any updates.

I've heard that the White Party is no more but now they have some type of dessert party somewhere? With a chocolate fountain maybe? Let me know of any major changes you noticed from your November trip!
