Can't wait. The search for tequila is one of my favorite activities! Husband and I brought back only one bottle last time. We plan on a lot of experimenting and tasting!

Excited to hear/see more!

Great stuff.........we'll be there at RPDC in 17 days.

What's the limit on the amount of liquor you're allowed to bring back?

Then it was back to the loungers and bring on the mojitos:

After another great lunch at Pelicano's, it was back to the beach for more sun and mojitos until it was time to make ourselves presentable for dinner at Asiana. On returning to our room, we noted that our maid, Reyna, had spoiled us with some great towel art:

Coming up next: dinner at Asiana and the 5th Avenue Tequila Quest.
Just curious, I thought all the beds at The Royal were 4 poster beds?

I am fairly sure you are only allowed one 750 ml bottle of alcohol per person.

Depends on where you live and how long you've been out of your home country.

For us Canadians, if we're out of the country for 48 hours or more, we're allowed to bring back up to 1.14L (40 oz) of hard liquor per person. You will rarely find a 1.14L bottle of anything in Mexico, where booze is usually sold in 750 ml or 1L bottles.

thanks for the lens/photography tips & info. I feel like I bought my camera a few years too early, especially since I couldn't begin to chat lenses with either of you.

Pam-what kind of waterproof p&s do you have? We bought a Canon last year and LOVE it. We had so much fun taking/viewing pics with it that we're kicking ourselves for not buying one sooner. We had a waterproof case for one of my Elphs but that was more annoying than it was fun.

Day V, Part 2

The early evening began as usual with a drink at the Tequileria before we headed over to Asiana for dinner. I am probably the only one in our group who is not a huge fan of Asian food, but nonetheless I enjoyed the spicy Thai curry chicken & pineapple dish. An excellent bottle of California riesling helped the meal along:

After dinner was over, it was time to venture up 5th while we searched for an appropriate way to fill our duty-free allowance. One of the quirkier sights along the way, on Calle Corazon:

I'm sure there's a story behind this:

Another Drugs & Deli sign caught S's eye, who couldn't get over the "cotton candy" look:

Our quest for fine tequila took us, once again, to Hacienda Tequila. After careful browsing and sampling, I finally found a couple of decent specimens to add to my collection:

Of course, the research had to be carried out diligently before making any kind of commitment:

On the way back to the RPDC, we stopped to enjoy an itinerant Mariachi band:

Upon returning to the resort, we once again finished off with a drink or two before saying farewell to Day V

Coming up: March 21

Kelli, we have an Olympus Stylus Tough 8010. We bought it in 2009 after my husband accidentally dipped my iPhone and our Point and shoot into the Atlantic in the Dominican Republic! It's just OK. Picture quality is terrible compared to our Canon products. Back then Canon had just come out with a waterproof and my husband was quite font of Olympus (till I convinced him that Canon rules!).

We bought Lifeproof cases for our iPhones this year too. So we are double set! The DSLR stays inside when weather is bad

Day VI, Part 1

Note the reflection of the beach in C's sunglasses

March 21, the first day of Spring. Another hot & sunny one. Breakfast at Spice was followed immediately by the beach, where Elizabeth once again kept the flow of mojitos moving along.

My wife & C decided to try out the parasailing. S & I share the same aversion to the idea of having nothing but air under our feet, so we were content to remain earthbound while our respective spouses soared gracefully above the Caribbean. This was my one and only opportunity on this trip to dig out my telephoto lens:

While the parasailers were airborne, I noticed this guy on this water jet set-up (anyone know the correct name for this?):

We then headed to Spice for a buffet lunch before returning to spend some time around the pool:

Today, the hotel had a live band set up poolside next to the Trade Winds bar:

The drinks, of course, continued to flow throughout the afternoon. No pain was felt by anyone by the time the sun started to dip:

Returning to our room, we found we had been left another example of Reyna's towel artistry:

At this point, we all took a break before regrouping for the Caribbean Party, coming up next....
