Wow that beach looks surreal compared to what I witnessed first hand in August. Staying at Playa Maya on Feb. 5th thru 15th. Can't wait to be back to a sargassum free Playa!!

Hi Birdielou,
You can't go wrong with Playa Palms. On the beach ,clean and great
staff . They are just completing an upgrade to the entrance area. We arrive

Hey Steve, do you rent your chairs/umbrellas, or do you have one of those rules that people can use them as long as they spent $XXX?

Thanks,

Thanks,

We were told they charge for the chairs, and it makes no difference what you spend on food or drink.

Glad you like them.

Now to respond on the pending question:

Well yes and no.

First, and most importantly, guests staying with us at the moment of course never pay for loungers (or umbrellas or whatever), and always have priority, meaning during peak periods, we may not be in a position to offer loungers to non-guests at all (even if they are willing to pay money for them).

As long as that is observed, then we move onto the second guideline: any such charge may be (and at least usually is) waived for cases involving for example friends or family of current hotel guests who want to join them on our part of the beach, or past hotel guests who are in town and want to come and spend some time with us, or in some cases even folks who are not and have never been hotel guests but who continue to return day after day to eat with us, and so on.

After that, the third guideline in other cases, where we just don't know people or have any connection or experience with them, is yes, to initially charge (50 pesos per camastro, I believe), which charge may in the end be applied to the food & drink bill at our discretion, depending on the situation (if enough was spent on food & drink, or if the period of time was reasonable as opposed to overly long, or what season and how crowded the beach is, etc). That may or may not be brought up at the beginning, however, as it is a bit vague and we want to reserve the right to not credit that back in some situations that don't seem to warrant it, without creating any ill will if it isn't, you know.

Hope that helps!

It's that day again. Lots of beach growth again just these past couple of days, to balance out the beach loss over a few days a week or so ago.

Thanks for putting that up. We'll be there in just
over a week and I've been wondering
how the beach has been, How's the sargassum situation?
Haven't seen it discussed for a while.
