I took lots of pictures of light fixtures and bathrooms. Maybe I'll get some ideas for decorating my house.

Eating our way through Playa

Even though I didn't take notes, I can recognize the restaurants we went to from food photos.

On 10th there was a row of tiny little restaurants that resemble a little food court. I tried a torta in one of these places that only had a counter for seating. I recall that it was very inexpensive. Jon had a burger that was not photo-worthy.

First stop, of many, to Wah Wah's. Diablo pizza and pulled pork sandwich.

It was WINDY so we sat inside to avoid being pelted by sand.

Util Pasta - I had pappardelle (maybe with mushroom sauce??) and Jon had fettuccine alfredo. I also had a nice glass of red wine that got a complimentary refill by the owner when he walked around to the tables topping off wine glasses. Nice touch! Even nicer when he took our photo at the end for Util's Facebook page.

La Cueva del Chango

Went for the first time and had breakfast. I had chilaquiles with a flavorful, spicy sauce that tasted made-from-scratch.

Jon is an omelette guy, for the most part. Bo-ring, IMO.

Back at Wah Wah's. First a round of chips and guacamole.

Followed by nachos. Chips and then more chips?? This is the day we went to the ruins at Tulum. As soon as we were back in PDC, we went straight to Wah Wah's. Rehydrated with a bottle of water each. (Not enough!) Followed by 2 for 1 margaritas. The big ones. After 2 drinks each we were completely loopy. Our veins had tequila with a little blood concentrate. Chips sounded like a fine meal choice!

Wicky's. They are off my list for future trips. Asked for a mojito, and instead of saying they were out of mint, served this lovely. Every drink and meal can't be the best!

Fogon's. This place was hotter than Hades when we ate there! We had guacamole, and arrachera. So good even in the stifling heat.

Wah Wah's. Do you detect a theme??? We came for the Sunday barbecue. A couple days before, Jon was walking through the bar area and smelled the smoker going and said, mmmm, I love the smell of smoke! Cowboy John heard him and graciously gave my Jon a tour and showed him where he smoked the pig for Sunday and gave him some chicharrones to sample.

Smoked pig.

So. Freakin. Good!

After.

Ruins

We rode the colectivo to Tulum to see the ruins. We've been here several times and hadn't been to Tulum yet. We did not opt to use a guide since we had a guided tour at the San Gervasio ruins on Cozumel.

Today is HOT, so the breeze by the cliff felt great. Remember I said we were dehydrated when we got back to Playa? Bring a big bottle of water to Tulum! I brought 1 liter that we drank while we walked around, and we drank another liter after the tour. Was not nearly enough.

Looking at these pictures, I realized I have the same clothes on it most pictures! I brought 2 swimsuits to wear to the beach or pool, and only a few outfits for walking around. We took our laundry to a lavenderia off 30th, near the Mega. We also used the laundry service offered by Club Yebo. Key factor to packing light!

Street views in Playa

We like resorts for being lazy and no need to think too much about what to do or where to eat. We like Playa for the opposite reason. We can walk around and explore. I have some photos of our walks, but some of them - I have no idea of where we were.

This was on 10th. I liked the colors.

This was a hotel that is closed. 2nd or 6th, off of 5th. That's my best guess, anyway.

I already had a picture of the church, but this day the sky was a brilliant, clear blue.

Beach views

Beach view from 38th. This would have been after we ate at La Cueva del Chango.

We walked along the beach after breakfast. Most likely to Wah Wah's.

I was impressed with the artwork on this wall.

Beach views for him

Beach views for me

Beach PDA

Beach yoga?

The birds!

Jon got...poo'd on one day. We went to a shop on 5th to look for a clean Tshirt. The shopkeepers said that was a sign of buen suerte. I say it was good luck for them, because we wouldn't have bought an expensive Quinta shirt otherwise!

More birds

And more birds

There it is. The AKFisher's fabulous 19 days in paradise. Eating, drinking, sightseeing. I hope you enjoy our trip as much as I've enjoyed the other trip reports that have been shared.

Can't wait to come back in November!
