We stayed at Royal Porto Real last April 29 to May 6, 2006 and loved it. We have booked The Royal Playa del Carmen for April 19 to April 26, 2007. We are getting the Junior Suite Oceanview, same as last year. We were on the 2nd floor, near the end of the pool and could see the ocean from our balcony. We will also spend most our time on the beach. I recently checked two websites and The Royal is fully booked while we will be there. The food was great last year. Only 2 short blocks from 5th Ave. Love to go there in the evening. I just wish shop keepers would not hound us as we are walking by. We only went to 5th once last year because of it. You just have to keep walking and go into the shops you are interested in. I also like that you do not have to have reservations for dinner. Last year we got a table right away where ever we ate at. Did the buffet alot and it was very good. I think the guys need to wear slacks now, last year my husband wore shorts and no problem. Will pack slacks again. Maria Marie's(think I have that right) had fantastic steak and shrimp. The guacamole was great at lunch time at the restaurant on the beach. Shrimp also good there.
