We just got back Friday from a week at the RPDC and really enjoyed it. We had a Jr. Suite BeachFront Walk-Out which turned out to be kind of loud. If we go back, next time we will probably get an OceanFront on the third floor. There is extremely high beach gravity at this place, and we never entered the pool once the whole time. Good food, beach service and excellent swimming at the northern part of RPDC's beach. Would not hesitate to return and the ability to stumble two blocks to 5th is a huge plus for us. Make sure you try the Chef's Table restaurant (upstairs from Marie Maria) with its seven-course set menu...all paired with decent wines. Best meal we had while we were there. Also thoroughly enjoyed the tapas restaurant for lunch and Asiana a couple times.

Another bonus here is that the spa services are very reasonably priced compared with other resorts we've been to. Our massages cost about 60% of what they did at El Dorado Royale, and were better to boot.

The only real gripes I had were that 1) you can't find a sandwich for lunch unless you order room service 2) there was an insanely loud (i.e. disco loud) wedding on Saturday that was held on the beach and ran until 1:30 a.m. and 3) the Bose stereos in the Royal Service rooms were an absolutely foolish idea on the part of Real Resorts. The walls are paper-thin and the idiot next door to us liked to blast Counting Crows and other assorted garbage at 7:00 a.m. and again very late at night. After a couple calls to the manager, the stereo got a lot quieter, lol.
