Ok June it is...and yes I'm totally inviting myself and the mrs along haha. Also, I'd Dona TR, but didn't take nearly enough photos and I had a two day head cold in the middle of the week.

Ouch a head cold on vacation doesn't sound like any fun at all. My husband suffered a migraine last year and was out a full day...he was bummed but nothing the beach the next day didn't cure!

When did you go to RPDC the 1st time around? We were also there in 9/2008 for our honeymoon...we're just mad we waited so long to come back. The Valentin was a great resort but RPDC trumps it in every category that matters to us.

Smile Vacation

Thanks for all your wonderful pictures. My husband and I are headed to The Royal doing My Time as well. How was My Time? I did the online check in this morning got room 900 category nothing else left but that's fine. I'm blessed just to be going. WE are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary.

Thanks! I just replied to your thread about the room..we were in #901 and loved it! We will try to stay in this room for all future visits.

We didn't get the My Time perks, my husband just wanted me to take a picture with the sign since it said "it's all about me" at the bottom

Let us all know how your visit is and how the My Time perks are! Have a great trip! Don't forget to email the romance concierge and let them know you're celebrating, they will do a few special things for you at no cost for that.

We were there for our honeymoon. Married sept 13, honeymoon Sept 14-21. We did ocean view then, upgraded to oceanfront this time, and going back to ocean view next trip. For as much time as we spent in the room (not much) the increased cost didn't really compute in retrospect...but live and learn.

Ya'll are the opposite of us then, we did oceanfront for our honeymoon back in 2008 & loved it but the nightly rates were near as high as they are now. We were there for 9 nights and both agreed that it was nice but the splurge just wasn't worth it. We loved our RJS this time around and doubt we'll ever pay more unless my husband wants to splurge for the oceanfront swim-up suites...those looked fun. Looks like we missed each other by a day, we were married 9/20 and were there from 9/21-9/30..happy belated anniversary!!

And same to the 2 of yinz! We are going back to ocean view and not a moment to soon. The ocean front swim ups , do they have drink service....it sounds elitist, but I don't wanna have to mix my own oj and vodka and be relegated to making my own mixed drinks out of the room lol

They do! The servers will come by if they see you on your patio.

Not elitist at all...our vacation time is our only chance to get away from everything. I make my own drinks at home the other 51 weeks of the year (along with laundry, dishes, being on-call for work 24-hours a day, etc.) so I know exactly what you mean. We had a long chat with a couple that were in the swim-up oceanview (not oceanfront) suites and they confirmed that they did get drink service. They said it wasn't as prompt as it was around the quiet pool but it was still very good. I would assume the service for the swim-up oceanfront suites would be better since it's a higher room category. I talked to one girl on Trip Advisor who had a beachfront walkout (also lower than the oceanfront swim-up's) and they got treated like royalty. She called for a glass of Absolute Raspberry one day and they got an entire bottle. They also let them order off of any restaurant menu (except Chef's Plate) and have it delivered via room service, often times leaving a hot box to keep the food warm. She posted pictures of their Maria Marie's room-service delivered meal...not sure if they do that all of the time but that would be an awesome perk of splurging if so!

I'm Playa dreaming today, reading bunches of trip reports that I've missed. This was great, thanks for sharing! And man, it can be tough traveling with friends sometimes can't it?!

Thanks Eileen & Trisha...we just booked a trip to Puerto Vallarta for late April since Playa was too much $$$ but I still find myself dreaming of Playa so I come back here to read the TR's too. The only way the hubby agreed to book PV is if we come back to PDC in October...here's to realllllly hoping it all works out. I'm excited about PV but for some reason more excited about the possible October PDC trip even more...it definitely has our hearts.
