Viva Maya Wyndham

We just got back from our September 8th to 22nd stay at the Viva Maya Wyndham resort. We were going down to relax and celebrate my 50th birthday which to many is a milestone to many as I thought. But upon arrival to the Viva we found out otherwise.
The bartenders were great. Once they got to know you, they knew exactly what your favorite drink was and they always were in good humour. Same with the entertainment staff. They would always come and sit down and chat with us whether we were eating dinner or having a drink at the bar.
One thing that was great was the ceramic wagon by the stage. The guy there was amazing. You’d paint something and he would take it home and add special touches to it and made it look amazing.
There were some great things about the resort as mentioned above but things like the grounds and foliage were breathtaking and the beach and the amount of palapa’s available was more than any resort I had seen. They do keep that part of the resort looking nice.
We loved the little market across the street. Got some nice jewelry there and would go back there again next time we are in Playa.
We met some great people there and had many great times and laughs. We really want to keep in touch with them as that are one part of traveling that is great!
I guess the old adage of you get what you pay for really came through here. We most definitely will not be staying at the Viva Maya Wyndham resort again and we have told friends already that they should look at other resorts and bypass this one.

Sunwing Representative at Viva Maya

We stayed at Viva Maya a year ago and found the Sunwing representative to only be interested in what he could sell you in excursions. He barely had time to confirm when our transfer to the airport would be taking us back to the airport. We should have complained to Sunwing, but had too many things going on at the time. The people working at Customer Service where we made restaurant reservations were constantly on the phone with friends and we always had to wait to talk to them. Other than these two employees, all other staff were great and we had a wonderful week at that resort.
