Thumbs up Cámara de Diputados scraps plans to add IVA to all Real Estate Transactions

According to news reports, the coordinator of the PRI in the Chamber of Deputies, Manlio Fabio Beltrones Rivera, announced there was consensus among the benches to dispose of the tax reform for collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) on tuition, housing/rentals and real estate purchases under 650K. The existing IVA rate in Quintana Roo will be raised to 16%.

While we are not concerned about how this will affect sales and investment in the region, it certainly is great news for anyone seeking higher education. Can you imagine ... a tax on tuition?
