Bruce and Pams weekend in New Orleans-Photo Report

Pam and I needed a short getaway, so Pam decided we should do a long weekend in New Orleans. Not really that much to report though.

We stayed on the 35th floor of the New Orleans Marriott. It's a convention hotel in what I thought was a pretty good location. We did not interact with the staff too much, but when we did it was a very positive experience. We met many very nice people during the weekend, so I'd say southern hospitality was in full mode.

We ate pretty well. The Acme Oyster House was our favorite, so we ate there twice . Mr. B's was also very good, plus we had a Groupon for a hole in the wall called Nosh. They had some great bacon and chesse sliders! Pam also had me buy a Groupon for Crazy Lobster. Our server there was great and my jambalaya was very good, however Pam's lobster pasta was just so-so. Not a place I would recommend.

We did a Witches and Brew tour that was also a Groupon. Tappy had mentioned that the tour probably would be a bit cheesy. It was, but our guide was entertaining and some of the stories were interesting. It was a 2 hour tour that was 30 minutes too long.

We pretty much just ate ,drank and walked a bit.

I was not exactly thrilled with my photography work this trip, but here are some.

Bourbon Street on Saturday night:

This could have been any number of board members expressing their opinion of me.

Jello shooters are pretty common on the street.

The most common drink on the street was the Hand Grenade, which Uno recommended. We each had 1 1/2 of these. Had a nice buzz going.

We also had a Groupon for a cemetary tour, but on Sunday we grabbed a trolley to the Garden District and ended up at Lafayette Cemetary No.1. Very interesting place, so we decided to skip the tour we had scheduled.

Pretty much everyone who visits this city heads to Cafe du Monde.

I think I'll just shut up now and show you some of what I observed while walking the French Quarter.

Not sure if he's smoking weed or crack.

Loved your pictures! I've never been but David's parents grew up there and he lived there as a child. His grandparents lived in the French Quarter. He goes, for work, about once every 2 years. Maybe one day I will get there!

Thanks Sharon! Living in the French Quarter had to quite an experience for Davids grandparents. Such a history there compared to where I live.
