A moving to Playa/the Maya place
There have been quite a few posts recently (it seems) in the general topic of moving to Playa and environs, different types of visas, health care and health insurance, cost of living, etc... Perhaps a new section of the boards, one for Moving to Playa or something along those lines.
just a thought Ron |

there are certainly lots of areas where we could add categories to the forum. Unfortunately, adding sub-categories dilutes, in some cases, the views that certain questions might receive. This is further complicated by so many people not using the search function. As our median user "web savvy" level rises, we might be able to further implement additional categories. I'm not sure that "moving to Playa" would be the first new category added, however.

Whew, this is a tough one...
Almost every international board site I have checked in the last while, because I am looking for a place I can afford to retire in, so give me a break... has a spot for "moving to this place"....God, most of them are soooo bad.....but I have to agree with this one....although I am not sure if there is a lot the moderators can do....You can post your queries here on almost any format, and expect answers....Should there be a "moving here" site of it's own like other sites I have read???? For PDC alone, I would say NO....This is not Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Belize, or any of the other such countries...IF there is is a spot that should you desire, and have the guts to try and make it on your own, maybe with some help from people that care, then you should go for it...We all want to be happy and 'lay in the sun' but in my opinion, with some search time, and a whole lot of PDCinfo help, anyone can make the decision to move to a spot like PDC...There are enough 'very knowlegeable' people on this site to answer almost any question you can ask!!! I asked some basic questions on some sites about this country and others, about retiring...What a runaround.... Just look, search, and ask questions...What else can you do?? A lot of us are in the same boat, and you will be really surprised at just how much the folks here can help you with answers to questions you may have... Oh damn....another sermon!!! the all to powerfull search.....hum...the most powerfull search engine in the world now is GOOGLE.....no matter what you search for that has to do with playa then you will surely find this sight in the top three....I have experimented with it....I just tried a search on google ( moving to playa del carmen) Playa info was #3 on the list of 6990 sights that have that in the description...I must say to anyone who reads this...i have been going to mexico since I was 10 years old....I have been to cancun a few times and I have been to playa about a dozen....I have learned more about Playa since jan 2004 than I knew for the past ten years all from this sight...I know that we goof around with silly post and meaningless topics...but in some way they are all related to being, living,or staying in playa for any given amount of time....I enjoy all the diverse opinions that this forum supplies...I enjoy reading about all the hotels, bars, and recomended excursions....I enjoy reading all the trip reports and all the goofy stuff that myself as well as some of the others post....I apologize for my part on the silly stuff...but I must do something to keep from going crazy thinking about the next trip down or how can i get off from work another week this qaurter....its my savior....and I wont stop until James kicks me off......hopefully that wont happen..my point is this...when you add the web cam in and all the info..silly or not redundant or not you have a huge amount of info at your fingertips...I think it would take you months on end to read all the info on this sight....when you add in the research of denisea and the imput from people like Anna,Bumper, squish, critter dougie46,ryberg,michaelholmes,sctx,tex,James,and about 5500 or so other people you can search any thing and get a solid answer that you can trust....so in my own opinion the sight is pretty much perfect....especialy now with the new server up....besides James dont want a bunch of us moving to playa and bugging him for a job all the time....
p.s. Jmaes if you know of any car dealers down there that need a good car guy give em my info...(jus kidding-no not really--no serious --no Im kidding)(no Im not)(yes I... sorry for the ramble...just my 2 cents.
