Trip report Secrets Capri
Well since there have been a few trip reports from here recently I am not going to bore you with the same info... Rubino's report was very similar to my experience. I will just add a few things.
We were at Secrets from 4/1-4/6 (not long enough) Just to let you understand where I am coming from I am married and 31 years old. We have 3 kids so we wanted to get away from children and we were successful!! When we arrived at the airport it was extremely busy, but knew to expect this and it did move faster than expected. We are still laughing about the red light green light out of the airport thru customs... thank god we got a GREEN light! When we finally found our transportation we were at Secrets in about a half hour. Check in was same as you have previously heard. Our room was ready because we did not get in till about 6pm. We had room 424. It was a jr suite, but in the main building just above the Riviera dining room. This was not so good because at the crack of dawn I could hear chairs being moved around in the dining room. Once I opened up our sliding door and could hear the water from the pool it usually drowned out the noise and the fan in the bathroom was great for that too. We had a fantastic ocean and pool view and the room was just as expected from photos I had seen. The food was better than expected, my favorite was Saturday night. They have the Romantic Dinner in the Riviera. Roses for the ladies and a great 5 course meal! This is one not to miss! A very impressive size lobster tail and great soup and all!!! We never made it to Hitmitsu If you are looking for a nightlife, this is not the place to go. We really didn't want a crazy party place, but still would have liked a more festive evening. The Desires was not open till 2 as it shows. For fun we went to Playa Del Carmen ( a $10 taxi ride each way) and only takes about 10 min or less depending on who your driver was . There are so many great happening place like the ******, OM, Carlos and Charlies, Capt Tutix. We felt a little old at the ******, but by midnight there were more people there our age. Since we were there during spring break there were a lot of young kids very drunk and dancing ... if you could call it that... The music by the pool was very poor! Some days they would have it on for an hour or two then it was gone. They would blast music for the noon time aerobics and for 4:00 dance lessons... but that was it.... we would have LOVED some Jimmy Buffett playing all day long!!! They did have some Bee Gee's playing ... LOL which was better than nothing. I read that someone a few weeks ago signed a petition for music but I guess someone complained. I think if Secrets wants repeat visitors they will have to fix this!!! They obviously can't make everyone happy, but I think if just ONE person complains about the music they should be told.. TUFF! Because the majority wants music. Ruben was our concierge and was wonderful!!! He has only been at Secrets a few weeks and came from the Royal Hideaway! He made our stay perfect! Overall a great stay... a few things could be done to make it better. Please feel free to email me with any questions!!! lnbraudrick@hotmail.com |

Thanks for the further info on Secrets. I will be there april 25th for 2 weeks. I can't wait. It will be my first time in Mexico. I did have a couple of other questions that I have been wondering about. Do you have to wear ID bracelets and can you swim in the pool in the evening especially after sitting in the hot tub?
