Newbie on Board

Hola! I have recently signed up to this board and just wanted to say hello to everyone! I have been to Cancun, the Riviera Maya and Isla about 15 or 16 times. I stopped a couple of years ago because I wanted to take my daughter to see a few other places as well so we went to Europe a couple of times and then LA and Vegas a few times. However, in July of 2012 I returned with a friend and my sister and forgot how much I missed Mexico! We mostly stayed in Cancun as my sister was undergoing cancer treatments and not up for too many day trips, but this past July I brought my daughter (who is now 23) and one of her friends. They both had a blast the few nights we stayed in Playa and also when we went to Cancun for a week. We snorkeled in Akumal with the turtles, visited Tulum, had lunch at La Buena Vida and of course the kids enjoyed the Playa nightlife immensely! Her friend was so depressed (this was her first trip) upon leaving that we are now booked for a week in January. That's all we can do until the summer months as I'm low on vacation time.

I love reading the trip reports on this board. I particularly loved one where the people went all the day down to the Sian Kaan biosphere and had great pictures of dolphins swimming in the wild, etc. I would love to get down that far some day! In any case, if anyone remembers that particular trip report, please let me know as I'd love to read it again.

Thanks very much!

Hola Fran in NY,

Glad you and your family enjoyed your time here. I would recommend using the "search" function to see if you can find the trip report about Sian Kaan. When I did a search, so many threads/post came up with that name in it.

Hopefully you'll be able to find the one you love.

Sian Kaan. The road totally sucks. I won't put myself through that drive again - ever.

Thanks, everyone!

I'll definitely do a search on Sian Kaan. I don't know when I'll have time enough to actually make that road trip but I've gone off the beaten paths a few times (on purpose and by accident--oops!) so I know the roads can be very tough! However, seeing some of the beautiful pictures of the scenery and beaches along the way might make it worth it!
