Viva Maya Wyndham -- Viva mayhem!

We spent the last 8 nights in Playa at the Viva Maya Wyndham. The check in was somewhat bad, we were with another couple and asked to be as close as possible but didn't have to be in the same building. They gave us our rooms and said we were in luck , we would be really close. Well we found our rooms and found ours was in building #1 at the beach on the north side, the other couple was in the adult building by the street on the south side. The 2 most furthest away buildings possible. Dont know if they did it for spite or what? Anyway the couple asked to be changed and were moved to our building. Maybe not a fair review of this resort because my wife and I both were sick for the last 4 days here. Our 13 year old son absolutely loved this resort, and the entertainment staff. We on the other hand have stayed at various Rui's and this was not even close to the quality of food , entertainment or Bar service. The beer was warm almost everywhere, the main buffet was like a cattle feed lot, super noisy and crowded. We did like the alacarte meals. Any how,, wont be staying here ever again. But for a budget AI I suppose it is ok for the money.

Oh, ok, I understand now. That resort is a budget place, and I've had friends stay there and were much like yourself. It was ok, but not going back. THere are people that like it though.....to each his own. We have checked it out before, back when we stayed in that area at the AI's. We have stayed at the Riu's and agree they are much better.

Best way to do Playa is a condo or small boutique place and go explore and eat out! In our humble opinion.

Love the name of your trip report, even if your time wasn't what you'd hoped it would be. I've stayed there myself and, though I wouldn't say I loved it, I'd still stay there again, for the money.
