This is not your usual trip report. It is a collection of photos and stories about our last 13 years of visiting Playa. Enjoy

You need to get into it a little................. it took me a while to figure out the photo thing. I do, I think you might enjoy the journey.

It helps to upload them to photobucket or facebook and then copy the url of the photo from there. Once you do that it is easier. That may not be a good explanation, but that is how I do it.

I upload mine to facebook, then, with the photo open in facebook, I right click on it and select "copy image location." Once I do that, I go back to playa.info, click on the image icon at the top of the post window (looks like a mountain), and past the picture URL (image location) into the pop-up box that appears when clicking on the image icon.

That may sound confusing. We can work through it though.

I will try again...

Since I deleted everything I previously posted......... I guess I should start over. Our first trip to Playa was in 2000 for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had never gone anywhere with our boys, and we had never left the confines of the USA. I was a Manager at UPS at the time, in the St. Paul Center in Minnesota. I was riding with one of my drivers Mike Ruud, who recommended Playa Del Carmen. He had never been there, but had heard good things about the place: No high rise hotels, very laid back, a lot of Europeans. When I ran it by my wife Brenda, she agreed that Playa was what we were looking for. So after booking flights and a room at the Pelicano Hotel, our adventure began. I don't want to say that it changed our lives........ but it kind of did. This years trip from Dec 2 to the 14th, I believe was our 18th trip. It is the only place we go, it is our one trip away during the year......

Ok, one more note and then I am done for the day. It has become much harder to get away to Playa every year. In 1995 my wife and I started doing foster care. We now have our 20th child in our home. In 2005 we started doing medically fragile children, and it changed our lives. And at 58 years old........... it has really changed our lives. We have adopted 3 special needs little girls. They are presently 10 year old twins, a 6 year old, and a 18 month old foster boy. FINDING people to watch these special, unique children is not easy, but we pulled it off again this year. We call it our "respite" vacation. It is our time to get away, recharge our batteries, read some books, chill at the beach, enjoy time with our friends that we have made over the years........ so that we can get back to razing these amazing children.

for the past three years, we have spent the first 5 days at Luna Blue and the second week at Fisherman's Village. We bought a week at Fisherman's the first year we were here (rookies), and although it is a very nice place, we would not do it again. We only sleep there....

Day one, we arrived at Luna Blue, and headed into town to have dinner at Da Bruno. Years ago, we formed a friendship with the Manager there. It is a long, and complex story............ that I may get to in the days ahead (if anyone cares). We are going to have dinner with his daughter from Toluca (sp) who stayed an extra two days just to meets us. She spoke very little English, and we speak very little Spanish, but good times, good food, good drink were still had by all.
