Hi...and I'm booked for Playacar Palace!!

Thought is say a quick hi, before I get stuck into all the info on here!

Me and my fiancÚ are travelling from the UK to PDC. It was a toss up between a snowboarding trip to Canada....or an all inclusive beach holiday. It's obvious which one won this year

We're gona be there from 12-26th August 2014, staying in the Playacar Palace. It should be great, I've been to Mexico twice before but only stayed in Cancun.

Hopefully find loads of info on here about things to do etc.

Few questions, if you don't mind:

For anyone that's travelled here in August, did you get much rain?
Any tips on PDC? The must visits?
Anyone stayed in the Playacar Palace? What were your thoughts?

Thanks, Rich

Last August was fairly dry, I think... - and then it rained like hell in September. I know we had 19 days straight of rain in September.

I've never stayed at the Playacar Palace but it's a nice location (walking distance to 5th ave and the great restaurants & bars & entertainment). It also has a really nice beach.

As far as stuff to do - like day trips, I'd say do some searches on the forum (read trip reports) and don't plan too much. Playa is a great place to let stuff just happen. Personally, I like Isla Mujeres (day trip), Tulum (ruins & beach), Akumal (snorkeling), Coba (ruins), a cenote (like Azul or Eden). Those are the places I bring friends who come to visit.

Cheers for the reply!

Fingers crossed we get lucky and have another dry August this year! I was in Barbados a couple years back at the same time of year, and we got a few 2-3minute showers every other day, which was a nice cool down from the heat

Yeah, gona be on here digging through the resort trips finding out what's good to do and where's good to visit

From reviews that I've read, playacar palace seems a really good hotel, apart from a palace membership they seem to be pushy about. Lots of people say ignore it and steer clear
