New to Town

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith...

whoops -wrong track..all true except for the "man" and "wealth" part.

I am Kate a semi retired midwife - alternative health therapist-inventor-writer. I am testing out the dream/illusion of living here in PDC. Wow did I pick the wrong time of year to find a long term rental!
I have patched together some temp. solutions until April/post Semana Santa....anyone needing a mature trustworthy house sitter after that let me know. Of course every where I turn people urge me to buy buy buy... I have actually been traveling for over two years and am just not sure if I have achieved a 100% cure for the travel bug, I might only be in remission. I did buy a chair and a teapot on a recent trip to Veracruz and I take this as a positive sign I am prepared for at least a year in one place. So hello! I look forward to humbly learning from the wisdom contained here-in about this great little city by the sea.

Hi Kate -
Welcome to Playa. I'm sure you've discovered that Playa is full full full of rental properties.

Lots of good people on this board can help you find a nice place to live, but help us narrow it down a bit and tell us where you want to live, what your list of must-haves are, and most importantly, what your budget is.

Then watch your mailbox for PMs.

If you're willing to live on the west side of the highway you'll find plenty of nice houses for rent in nice neighborhoods.

Thank you...I think for a number of reasons , there is no point in my looking too hard until late March/April. Starting April 1 or better (March 30th) would be great-but I can hold off too. I would like 2-3 bedrooms, budget is 10-12k mx , furnished or semi at least. The other side of the highway is not a great option for me as a car is not in my immediate future. So I need to walk every where (a reason IMHO to live in a city at all) Prefer apartment in a nice secure building with at least a tree or two. West of 20 is fine , North 28 wonderful, but Centro ok too. Playacar phase 1 is nice but I doubt my budget allows for it.

Happy Carnival everyone! I should look elsewhere (on the forum and on the street for festivities!)

I think your budget is do-able . But its not overly generous, and so you are probably better trying to find a "trato directo" with an owner rather than going through a property manager, where there is a commission built in to the price. And I'd look west of 20th you will get more bang for your buck.

You can try walking around and asking (I wouldnt rely too much on signs, people put them up but don't take them down), and you should definitely check andale. www.andale.mx

And I'd start looking now. Things might be currently booked with vacation rentals but good places don't stay vacant long so if you find something you like now you may be able to reserve it for May 1st whereas if you wait until may 1 it could have bookings again.

Hi Kate!
We should get together sometime. I'm a midwife and have recently moved to Paamul.

HI! We have just moved here and found a long term rental on the north end of the PDC beach for very reasonable rates including all utilities and the building is very secure, is centered around a lovely garden and has a very nice energy. If you would like to see the place call us at 984-165-1268.
