We're Booked!!

We're heading to Playa for our honeymoon, May 20-27, and staying at the Royal Hideaway. I figured an AI was the best way to go for our first visit. I feel pretty secure with my choice of the RH, given the comments I've read on different boards (Fodors, TripAdvisor). There doesn't seem to be much info here though. Anyone stayed there, with any advice/info? We're definitely going to try and daytrip to Chichen Itza and Tulum. I've also got my handy Playa map that looks like it has all the info I could possibly need! I can't wait.

Hi Yaqui !
What a nice place you chose for your honeymoon !
Last week were were staying at an hotel of the same owner (Occidental ) the Caribbean village Playacar and we were treated like royalty ! If we were treated like that in a 3 1/2*, imagine how well they will treat you at the Royal Hideaway !!! Occidental is a very nice hotel chain and they hire just the best people . The food is also excellent .

Have you had the chance to go on Occidental's web page ? you can choose your hotel from the list and even do a "virtual tour" of the resort. this will be very helpful to you ! www. occidental-hoteles.com

I found this forum very helpful to me before I headed to PDC, but unfortunately like you said, there is not that much info on certain all inclusive resorts.

You can also find very nice pictures taken by previous clients of the Hideaway by visiting webshots.com : http://www.webshots.com/search/searc...rce=searchhome

Let me know if you need help with something !

Great info on webshots! I'm looking through the pics now. I've only seen Carribean water in pictures, and I still can't believe it's really that color! I can't wait to see it in person. Thanks for the help.

Royal Hideaway

our beach club was about 1 minute away from your beach, and yes the water is really that color !! incredible isn't it ??
and the water is hot too ! I mean, it is not too cold, but not too hot. JUST PERFECT !!

Take a look at Occidental's virtual tour of the hotel, this is super also !
What kind of room have you booked ( so I can do a virtual tour of it, and DREAM !! )

We've booked a Luxury Room, with the hopes that we can get upgraded because of out honeymoon. Looks like the resort is booked for a few days, so the upgrade might not happen.
I've never done an AI, so this will be a new experience for me. I'm sure it'll be wonderful.

Did you tell your travel agency you will be in your honeymoon ? you should because usually you have to advise them ahead of time and they have special attention for you at the hotel ( flowers, champagne, chocolates in your room ) ...
Also mention it to the reception clerk when arriving at the hotel. Be prepared to prove you just got married ( for honeymoon upgrades they often request a proof now ) .
but it looks like the luxury room is SUPER !!!!

Who told you the hotel is booked for a few days ? I am surprised because usually May is not a big season for Riviera Maya . And I heard this particular hotel is not ofter very booked because it is so expensive, people tend to go to less luxury hotels.

I actually let the folks at Royal Hideaway know. We've got our fingers crossed.
We actually tried to book our travel for the week of 10-17, but were told they were booked the 15-17th. They're also booked the 22-23rd. Our wedding is May 8th, so we're actually having to wait a week. We weren't too happy about that, but we were pretty set on the RH.
I read somewhere that May is starting to become more popular for travel. This site has a calender for the RH, and shows availability by room type. Pretty good pricing too. http://travel-center.com/
