Shopping recommendations - Jewelry, pottery , glassware?

Hi all

We are in Playa with friends and they would like to buy some things to take home. Hubby and I don't normally shop much here so we don't know what stores to recommend. They are interested in silver jewelry, pottery, crafts made by local artisans (I.e. not mass produced) and glassware (esp. those blue-rimmed drinking glasses). Can you recommend any good stores where they are fair with pricing, items are good quality and they don't harangue you to death?

Much as gracias!

As far as the blue rimed glasses I actually like the store in Paseo Del Carmen, right at the end of 5th next to Marti. They have a good selection of glasses and reasonable prices.
How much do they want to spend on crafts and jewelry? One good craft store is Ambarte Mexican Folk Art-Gifts for the Discerning Tourist | everythingplayadelcarmen.com The other Mexican craft and jewelry store is here http://everythingplayadelcarmen.com/...ould-not-miss/

Siete Detalles, 1st avenue & calle 14. Pottery is authentic and the pewter is made by the family of the owner. We bring something home every trip.

Yep - definately recommend this place. Alicia the owner is super lovely. All her pottery is the REAL thing (Telavera) unlike most of the immitation stuff you will find on 5th.

for the glassware go to the Blown glass factory (Vidrio Soplado Mexicano) is located at the north end of town on west side of the highway and Calle 80 norte at the BACK of the building on the south side (it has nothing to do with the store at the front!) You may see shiny round gaze balls set up alongside the building and an awning. Many styles/colours to choose from and much cheaper than 5th Ave.

Another really popular place for gifts is about 2 doors north os Siete Detalles - Artivelas - the beautiful candle shop. Lovely to see at nighttime. You won't be disappointed there and they package them well for travel in boxes with handles.

Vidrio Soplado is my go-to spot for glassware. If you just want the ordinary (but still beautiful) blue-rimmed glasses then yes no real need to leave 5th avenue. But Vidrio Soplado has a much wider range of shapes and colors, including beautiful vases that you don't find at Fiesta Americana or the other trinket shops. They also have some nice things on sale for dirt cheap.

For Jewelry, Veronica Saltero's shop just to the north of where Calle Corazon used to be, I am not sure of the street, maybe 14th, between 5th and 10th. The shop is called Yulunga's, nice leather and jewelry

+1 - I have too much now to know what to do with, but I can't resist at this shop. Top notch stuff.

If I'm not mistaken, Yulunga has moved. Now at 34th just NE of 5th in the row of shops behind la Parilla.

One of the wife's favorites, along with the candle shop just up the street across from Imprevist.

Absolutely my fav shop in PDC!

Next fav is Maya-xel (on the north end of Fifth between 28 & 30th). The owner/artist is American and a super nice guy. He makes the most amazing lights out of sea shells, google it and you will see what I'm talking about. I love his work! Even if it's not something you can use, please go visit his store at night, it's beautiful!! Hopefully he will be there, he is fun to talk to about his work and life in PDC.
