Anyone able to direct me where to buy Camarena Tequila in Playa? Checked Walmart and several shops on 5th. No one has or seems to have heard of it. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I've never seen it in a store in Mexico, but I've bought it a couple of times here. For a very inexpensive tequila it is not too bad.

As the tequila is a brand of Ernest and Julio Gallo Winery (California), it may not be imported into Mexico.

Jack, where can I find it here in Playa? Have not seen it at any of the usual places.

Tequila has to be made in Mexico to be Tequila. But many Tequilas are shipped north in bulk into the US and bottled in the US. Not all of them are subsequently re-imported into Mexico. For example it was many years before Chinaco showed up in Mexico and even now it is very hard to find. Bottled for the US market in the US. I have not doubt that our evil wine company in Modesto is bottling their Tequila in one of their US bottling plants.

I really like the silver as a mixer, at any price. It just happens to be about $20 a bottle.

The bottle reads:
Product of Mexico
Produced and Bottled by Tequila Supremo
Rancho El Cilarejo
Arandas, Jalisco

For speciality liquors, fine wines and out hard to find items, your best bet is La Europea on Calle 8 (between 5th and 10th).

We've found a huge selection of items there, when we couldn't find them anywhere else.

I believe spirits, to be called Tequila, have to be made (produced) in a certain region of Mexico, similar to Champagne and the Champagne region of France. Perhaps after production the Tequila is shipped in bulk to Texas and bottled there for US distribution.
