"Bug" restaurant (serving insects, etc.)?

My son heard about a restaurant in Playa del Carmen serving grasshoppers, ants, grubs, etc. and would like to try it.

Can anyone think what place he's thinking of and whether it's still open?

While we're at it, he's desperate to try iguana, which I've not seen on a menu anywhere. Any pointers for iguana?

He's probably talking about Xulam over near Playacar? They were closed when we were just there, but I don't know the story there. When we went in 2012 they had grasshoppers on the menu.

I know La Perla serves them as Ive seen grasshoppers pictured in specials on their Facebook page, but I've never eaten there. We had crickets in guacamole at Mestizaje sin Fronteras, but I'm unsure if they are still open.

Looking at websites and such, I think he probably *was* thinking about Xulam. Now I just need to figure out if they're open. Their last Twitter and Facebook posts were in January 2013, so it's not looking good.

I'll see if I can track down La Perla or Mestizaje sin Fronteras.

The only La Perla I seem to find is at the Paradisus resort. Is that what you're thinking of or should I keep looking?

Thank you so very much. I suspected a resort wouldn't have insect tacos...
