Great choice! I think you will love it there. Truly the best of both worlds.

They usually have some live (low key) music at Cafe del Mar on the beach at night, great place for a nightcap, I had my nightly nightcap there! Satay is actually pretty decent, we ate there twice- get the sushi boat and try the ginger ice cream! But give the main buffet a miss for dinners, we weren't impressed- we had most of our dinners elsewhere. It's good for breakfasts though, and of course lunch at the beach is great. Have fun!

Thanks for the heads up, we just decided last night to do Isla instead of Playa this year. Wouldnt normally do AI, but at this price hard to pass up.

The pattern seems to be that they run their deals every other Thurs. I would predict not this Thurs., but next Thurs. is when the next deal would be. It is only from noon to 4pm, so you need to jump on it. It is call their I-Smart deal. It really was an amazing deal! We have friends now who might join us if they run the deal again. Fingers crossed! Sign up on their web-site to get emails with the offers. Also, like them on FB if you have an account. You can watch then and get a heads up of what the offers are going to be usually the day before.

There's a deal out there now until 10/31, is this different than the Thursday deal? The standard room AI is $198/night double occupancy.

It seems like during the summer months, I don't check this site nearly as often as fall and winter and that being said, thought I would chime in here. My husband and I love Isla. We love to explore and do a lot of walking. We have been three times and a few years ago did spend two weeks. We love exploring new places and do a lot of walking or sometimes we jump on a local bus to see where it goes. There's lots of great places to eat. The year we stayed for two weeks, we bought a Map Chick map and it was awesome! The beach was incredible. We found that we could buy a cold beer at a little place across from the beach and enjoy it on the beach taking the bottle back empty and getting another even cheaper because of the deposit. February is the month we always seem to go to Mexico and have never booked a hotel room on Isla and always had no trouble finding a spot at a very reasonable rate. We have met many wonderful people on Isla .... people who flee the cold months of Canada or U.S. Love, love, love Isla and cannot wait to go back.

You mean "and still be there in the morning?" or "how much more will it cost?"

It's my approach that 'only boring people get bored'. Give me a great beach, good weather, my honey, and a good book, and I am happy. We don't go on vacations to meet people and party with strangers, we go to relax, recharge from our busy lives, and re-connect as a couple- Isla is the perfect place for that![/quote]

This is our approach as well......

A few years ago my wife & I did the day trip to Isla for the snorkeling and site seeing-golf cart thing. It was fantastic but too short so we went back last year and stayed at PA. We did the AI and still went out for dinner many nights. The relaxed atmosphere on Isla is what is sending us back for 2 weeks this year. My wife & I both work away from home for weeks at a time so spending our vacation together on Isla definitely is a major reason to stay there. Also the margaritas are pretty Damm good at the PA...
