1) 17 months to tear down the roller-coaster. (This can be shortened considerably by re-opening the highway to traffic, and simply letting it continue to fall down of its own weight.)

2) 10 minutes to plan a new grade level highway running on the existing right-of-way, widened to include the existing frontage road on the eastern edge from the Coca Cola factory on the north end of town to Chillly Willy's on the south.

3) 17 months to build it.

I left Playa yday on the bus to the airport. I asked if it was taking extra time to get thru - was told 'No'! The south-north side is functioning - at least where the bus entered from! and we got to the airport in the usual 1 hour.

HOWEVER, the ticket lady at ADO did say buses coming TO Playa can take up to 2.5 hrs from airport with this going on……so plan accordingly.
I'm sure those numbers will switch when they swap lane directions! When is just a mystery until it happens!

They only did construction on the south bound side of the flyover. At least as far as I can tell. It's open but you'll have to take the Juarez exit to get to Centro Maya.
