Oh, the bar is the Fah? I think...lol. Just saw it an hour ago and can't remember...
The 2 guys playing there that you enjoyed were likely Mike Grabow and Victor Cosio. If the weather breaks for you, you can usually catch them at Wah Wah in the afternoon on the beach. Good time

yes...Mike is from Nevada he said, both were very friendly.

Victor is unbelievable. We saw him and the guy on the box and another Mexican guy...big, gotee. He was good as well.

No storms, but still cloudy...sun came out a bit more today. Drop the school supplies there today.

Today - Wed
slept in...went to starbucs for coffee with our rolls we bought yesterday.
Headed back we decided to get eggs to make breakfast burritos. Had left over taco cart chicken, and the flank steak from el fongo.

Did great until we opened the 5th egg....totally rotten totally ruined our appetite and I hadn't started to eat mine so I didn't.

Cleaned up and headed out to have a braclet I bought Cindy readjusted. Then we tried to get to Chester's-Pasta. After waking in a giant circle from 5th ave/18 calle to 40th ave/12th calle and back to 30th/18th calle we decided to eat. Around the corner from el fongo was a little market/restaurant. Ate a breaded beef sandwich..very good.

Got back, talked to our lunch date tomorrow - got confirmation. Headed home chilled, went to the beach for about an hour.

Made some margarita's headed to Fah to hear Mike and Victor. Should be another relaxed night.

Thursday
Well we had a great and wonderful time today. Now 2:10, heading to the beach. Then to Cheesters for dinner tonight.

A few days ago we met a young man at one of the Play mart shops on 5th...yes we normally don't go in there, but looking for a T for the boy and few trinkets. Anyway, we got to discussing where good authentic inexpensive food would be vs 5th. We knew about 30th and calle 18th area. He actually invited us to his mother's house. Through his little english and our little spanish we got it figured out. He had been to the university so he could write excellent english. Today was the day. We took a taxi from ave 30/calle 18 to ave 35 / calle 98. We found his house...I'm sure most folks would be horrified by the living conditions. We meet his mother and brought her flowers. His GF, sister and her husband and their son came by as well.

We had chicken and brown broth/rice. Excellent meal. GF got the recipe, some spice. We talked about our families and theirs, tried to learn some spanish..them english. It was a great time. He told us that when we come back, every time we come eat good mexican food. The family was really neat. We exchanged emails, I am sending pics to them...we will definitely keep in touch.

Anselmo took us to the bus stop...told me what to say..lol then we rode the bus back to mega mart to walk home.

Getting a drink in, then headed to the beach for a bit.
(again, pics will come next week...so sorry)

How cool is that? Is the sun shinning yet? We arrive from KC on Saturday!

ah...better each day.

It may not be sunny but you'll get burned and the ocean is still beautiful.

Yes it was very neat. The family was so generous and open. It made me so grateful for what I have and even a bit guilty for wanting more. Not that I didn't feel that way before.

We are planning on keeping in touch with them and continuing the tradition for years to come.

I am so happy that you met this wonderful family. What a great experience! Kind of renews my faith in humanity when so many bad things happen, seemingly more and more frequently.

yes...I agree. It was really a great experience.

They lived across the football (soccer) field on 35th ave/ 98 calle, behind a laundry.

2 bartenders/waiters at FAH, Jorge, small guy, tattoos, and Daniel...both EXCELLENT guys. Very friendly. I know it's a bar on 5th but GREAT music and those 2 guys made us come back almost every night.

I told Daniel, he needs to get with Jorge, get a backer and open their own place...like on 10th/15th...off of 5th. IF I had that kind of money, I'd back them in a heart beat.

La Bola Maya

A neat little shop on Calle 10 and between 5th and 1st Ave.

On south side by a divers shop.

A super nice young women (24yr old) works there. There are hand made bracelets, key chains, necklaces...all different colors. It's a project to help the Mayan women make a living, to help raise their kids.

GREAT project. We talked for about 30 minutes...neat young woman. If ya feel the need to help it's a great little shop.

Just thought I'd pass this along.

Friday -
Slept in...except went starbucks for the GF's coffee. Had rolls from store for breakfast.

Went to Mamita's for our last full day. Got lounges and an umbrella. I would recommend an umbrella. It's nice to have the option to get under the shade and still enjoy the beach.

The good thing is you can wash off. We stayed down on calle 10 and 1st. So a decent walk with sand on your feet is not good !

Went to the Mart to say good bye to our new friend Anselmo. It was funny, all the helpers came around and we talked to them as well. Told him we'd keep in touch and we will be back to for of his mother's cooking.

We then walked to Chesters, Chtrs, Chisters, ....on 40th ave and 4 calle. Very good pasta, GF had Salmon. The owner happened to show up and stopped to talk to us gave us the background on the restaurant. I asked about how to pronounce it and he has a shirt with ALL the pronunciations...due to a legal issue. Very nice guy.

The rule is NO PHONES...no texting or talking. You can take some pics, but he doesn't want a place like that. We HIGHLY recommend it.

Chillin for an hour or so then headed back to FAH for one more gig of Mike and Victor and the box drummer...ugh don't have his name. Maybe a night stroll on the beach then a nightcap on the rooftop pool.

Excellent day!

Oh...lol the NEW hat for the ladies is a straw fedora...no more cowboy hats~

There are many things that I'm leaving out...let's just say we took advantage of the private deck and hot tub..on a daily basis. And as they say..."what happens in PDC, stays in PDC".

Tuesday - oops...cloud cover is deceiving... got a little burned. Hung out at Mamita's. Meet another couple from St Louis, he's just retired from teaching, second marriage...very similar to us. They came in on Sat as well...and had the same thing to say about the sun. Trying to convert them from AI...lol.

Bought the fiance a Mexican opal ring...very beautiful...hopefully a decent deal. She loves it so it's good there.

Ate lunch at el fogon on 30th by megamart. Very good. Had flank steak, potato, grill onion bulbs, totillas, peppers/cheese...

Again, pics WILL COME...eventually. chillin...headed out to walk around...thinking we are eating our leftovers tonight.
