Shammy I need your help!!!!

Hey Shammy,
Sandra here. I have been bumped by America west vacation from the Barcelo to an "upgrade" of either the moon palace, Grand Xcaret or Allegro playacar. At this point I hear (from another traveler) a refund takes much time, allegro is out of the question from post's I have read, Moon palace is too (don't wan to be in cancun if I can help it)- Is the Grand Flamenco ok or should I be looking for a refund and book the barcelo "ala carte" ???? Definitely Shammy is the expert here, but for what it's worth, until you hear from her I will throw my 2 cents worth in. The Grand Flamenco Xcaret would be a downgrade in my opinion from the Barcelo. I would either research and pick a resort you think is a step up from Barcelo, or ask them to refund the money from the original trip and try booking through Shammy.

We are leaving June 21st and staying until June 29th. This is really bad news as I spoke with someone in the same predicament last night who said they don't want to issue a refund and are giving her a hard time!!

Saw you on the Barcelo Board, I would be a mess if this happened to me. Barcelo is a great resort, I feel very bad for all of you that have been bumped. Palladium looks good, someone mentioned that on the other board. But still its not right what is happening. Im going in August and my heart is set on Barcelo.

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Been MIA for a few days...busy busy!

But this is what I think...

Those "upgrades" they are offering you are actually downgrades.
I'd cancel...for sure! They did not deliver what they promised to deliver...a room at the Barcelo! You were booked, you paid and you are supposed to get what you paid for. If you want, tell them that you'll keep the airfare but cancel the hotel portion. It's usually the air that comes with all the cancelation penalties. I can book you hotel only and even though it's all but sold out, I think I know where I can get the Barcelo from.

Worth a try, see what they say.

But if I did that jobob...I'd have to hire you to be my helper, I'd be swamped!

BTW..I DO have Canadian clients. They fly out of Detroit and Seattle.

By the way the TA said the same thing you did that if they did agree to the "upgrade" to Xpu-ha that it would probably cost us a little. I personally think they should be paying me for all of the mental hardship they've put me through

Did you say there is ONE room left at Barcelo for that week? I am just beside myself. I will let you know what is going on ASAP. However, I am very apprehensive about them not giving my $ back. AMWest Vac is not the most financially secure at the moment. Thanks for all of your help.

And there is 1 room left with ONE supplier...I didn't check with anyone else yet. But they would definitely have the best price so I went there first.

Did you pay by credit card? Maybe call the CC company and dispute the charges...see what they suggest you do. You have a failure to deliver a product or service that you paid for. Seems to me they can jump in.

And I agree...they should hand you the best hotel in the world for the amount of aggravation they have caused you.

Good news- we've been switched (for no extra money) to Xpu Ha, sure hope it measures up to Barcelo. Not happy with the way they (America West) tried to handle it initially but the result is acceptable.
