They had a go of it on permiseos, but it was all done on the upside. No reason at all to sell alcohol in that locales. E-mail into the landlord for the real scoop....later all

Too bad, lovely people and a cute little place. Tough to make a go of it in the restaurant business here. No need to speculate or call them stupid unless you actually know what happened, though.

Happy Saturday!

Well..I was actually referring to Cheesters (or anyone who serves alcohol without a license) because I didn't know the situation at Guilty Monkey. I trusted my source

Was so sad to see this place close down as it was my favorite new find about a year ago when i was in PDC. I checked it out while there last November and had clearly be shut down for a while with no sign up or anything. I was going to ask the people at the adjoining hotel (Swede owned as well) but didn't see anyone around the couple of times I walked by there. However, I will make a point of finding someone to get the real story from when I go down again in a few weeks.

Thanks for the video btw... it was great to see Beatrice again.. she & her co-owners were so friendly when I was there! Aside from the amazing cinnamon buns (so good I ordered 10 to take home with me), they had some of the best hamburgers every for lunch... served on amazing home-made bread!

Anyway, I sincerely don't think them shutting down had anything to do with liquor... there was no need to even serve it as a place like this. I did overhear a conversation while eating lunch there one day.. one of the owners discussing license fees and such with someone. I remember him being shocked at how high they were so it's possible that was at least part of the cause. They were also having trouble finding qualified people to hire, which seemed a bit surprising but I took their word for it. When I was there in Feb'14, they had 1 kid working for them but really needed at least 1-2 more as word was already out and the place was very busy almost every time I went there. Anyway, whatever the story I hope to find out more and report back.

We had a good cup of coffee, and a delicious cinnamon roll there last April. Sorry to hear it is gone. From our experience, if the owner was having a hard time with help, it was because he treated them poorly. The day we were there he was talking to the staff like a real jackass directly in front of customers. Until the owner's arrival, we were truly enjoying our coffee and chat with the young man behind the counter. He was a gem. Things became real uncomfortable once the owner arrived and was stressing the atmosphere.

Not sure which owner you are referring to... the way I understood it, Beatrice and her boyfriend/husband (Blond Swedish guy) were the co-owners but they also had another Swede with them I believe... a darker haired guy... not sure if he was in on the ownership or not. The issue as I understood it was them being able to find local help that was reliable. Not sure who the confrontation you saw was between but all 3 of the Swedes seemed really nice and friendly to me and I was there close to an hour a day or more for over a week and did not notice any such scene as you mentioned. Anyway, as I said, I will try to get some info from the adjoining hotel owners in the next few weeks.
