I like the one across from Mega. The first time I ever came to Playa I asked the waiter what Chistorra was and he immediate brought our a plate of all the different sausages with explanation. After eating the Chistorra I was hooked. Great service too.

I like the one at 30th and 30th. Really authentic, filled with locals.

The original one at calle 6 bis and AV. 30 is my favorite as you can sit upstairs and, if lucky, get somewhat of a breeze. And also, you can watch the action below on AV. 30 with all sorts of vehicles jockeying for position with the Tucsa buses, taxis, motos and cars.

I agree with Al. The original El Fogon seems cleaner and better. Over all I think it has more character.

Thank you everyone. Going with Al and Michael on this one. How weird is this? Been coming here since 92 somewhere around 15 trips and never made it to El Fogon.

Yes, best choice. Remember, sit upstairs and sit on the outside "deck" area (on the east or AV. 30 side) to take advantage of the breeze (if there is one) and to watch the circus below.

I agree with the location with the upstairs, no smoke from cooking and the breeze is worth it.

Side note: I took 20 of us there for dinner on our first night in Playa for my Sis"s Wedding, most were so fearful of eating out so I threw em into the deep end. This was the best thing I have ever done as all of them were game on to try what ever was next, which is awesome as we did small hotels for 3 weeks between Mahahual and Playa.
