Beach Clubs

Is there already a post somewhere about the beach clubs in Playa? I used the search function, but only came across many posts with the word "beach" in them.

If not, what is everyone's favorite beach clubs? Only two months left before we head down and I am still working on my tentative itinerary! We're staying at Luna Blue and so excited! Looking for info about beach clubs in playa and maybe one in Akumal to spend the day at that has good snorkeling

I go to Wah Wah 90% of the time, regardless of where I am staying cause they have the best beach and people. My other favorites include Zenzi (but usually for the bar), Canibal Royal (for the ambiance), or Bad Boys (if they have live music and no one else does at the time).

Thanks for the recommendations! We get free access (with min. purchases) at Bad Boys, The Beach Club at Grand Coral, Indigo, and Canibal Royal. Pretty excited to try each one! Also looking forward to hanging out at Wah Wahs!

I'm not sure there's a beach club, per se, in Akumal. Just take a bus down, get off at Playa de Akumal and walk the pedestrian bridge and road east until you're in the water. LolHa is on the beach with good food (daughter ways it's the best coconut shrimp she's ever had) and the dive shop next door has lockers, i think; we didn't use them.

snorkel out into the bay 50 yards or so and look down to see the tortugas munching sea grass. it's awesome!

just be aware that it's summer break in the area and the beach is public so there will be many folks there.

Yeah the summer break thing kind of stinks, but it literally the only week I have off from school, other than Christmas (and the bf snowplows), so that time is best for us. I LOVE coconut shrimp, so I'm stoked to go to LolHa now! Thanks!

right. our daughter is 15 now and we can't imagine leaving her at home, so we travel in the Mexico off season. It's cheaper, by a bit. yes, the crowd is a higher population of locals but we don't mind. we're from central texas anyway.

We agree 100% with VermiciousKnid. The staff there is very friendly, prices are great. The live music is very good. The food was good with good portions. Bathrooms were clean and neat.

We walked from 32nd and 5th almost every day we were in town for 2 weeks to stay there. And we'll do it again.

Better ask about Grand Coral. I stayed at Luna Blue in March and found out when there that Grand Coral changed the rules the day before we were headed there - no access. Now that may have been for high season only but I would e mail Tony or Cheri to see if they have an update on the situation, maybe they have ironed things out now.

Last minute change of plans has us ending up at Unico Beach Club in Puerto Morelos, and it was very nice!

We've been to Zenzi, Indigo, Grand Coral and Mamitas which is one that nobody has yet to mention. The beach is a lot nicer down by Mamitas (IMO) and chairs are 30 pesos.

Grand Coral is nice but it's a hike from downtown Playa.

You'll have a great time no matter which one you choose. Enjoy yourself and soak up the sun!

We love the vibe at Indigo beach club. Pretty place in front of El Taj. Usually really good music, no techno....the problem is the water in front has all the fishing boats and its not that nice at all. Have to walk down quite a ways to swim, etc.....

We really like Wah Wah's as well. If we stay on the north side, we will do Mamita's and Kool too.

Canibal royal is the best one in Playa del carmen, Blue Venado is great option as well, in the wild beach a bit outside Playa!
