Elections July 2014

Will there be elections this year in Playa during the month of July. Last year it was during the first weekend in July and there was no sale of alcohol. Returning again in two weeks and want to prepare since we stay at a condo rental. Thanks

Thanks for posting this, my daughter and I will be there at the same time. This would be good to know if there will be no sale of alcohol and on which days.

I don't think so. The state elections that were held in 2013 will certainly not be held again this year.

Ironically tourists are not allowed to vote, but they don't know where to buy beer during the run up to an election. Mexican people who are allowed to vote, know where to buy beer. The beer was even delivered cold to our house in a taxi. There was a 20% mark up for the service. That is no different from what the pantry stocking people charge. I thought it was a great deal. :-)

And.... you're keeping this service a closely guarded secret, it seems.

There are city elections, yes? Alcohol will be sold?

If i were a tourist, and i'm not saying i am, where might i find this beer you speak of, during an election cycle?

It has not off been very difficul for foreign visitors to the region, at least, to find alcohol for sale in the usual way in restaurants, and it's usually served as usual at resorts and hotels, as well. Often much more alarm about the situation than it turns out was ever called for.

Reminds me of a time we went to Carboncitos during a dry weekend. The general rule was alcohol was available if you were having food. We ordered our food and a couple of beers, then a gentlemen, on his own, sat next to us who was just settling his bill heard us.

He asked quite angrily why they didn't tell him this, they said, you didn't ask for alcohol, he said That's because I thought I couldn't have it!

So then he ordered a beer, and they said he couldn't have it because he wasn't ordering food 😎

He left very angry.
