Cache Boutique Hotel

Coming down for Halloween this year! We really enjoy staying a little more in the middle of everything, and staying on the beach is not that big of attraction. With that in mind the wife is really liking Cache at calle 10 and 15th ave. Walked by it many times in May. We like modern, so it fits the bill. Somewhere around $50 a night works too, lol!

Anybody been there or checked it out? We absolutely love the location. Close to most of our favorite restaurants, beach is close, we use the evolve gym just past 30ave on 6th, so its close too....The Palms rooftop is just around the corner and thats a win win! If anyone has anything bad to say, tell me now! Construction in the area, etc......

That hotel was under construction for a long time and then stopped. It finally got finished. It does seem to be a bit dead and I hardly see more then 2 people there. I wonder if it will be in business by Halloween.

I live near there and the only comment I have is that the park can be really, really noisy. Lots of live music or performances with music played quite loudly. Great location in terms of walking to places you want to go but could be noisy - especially if your room faces the park.

Ave 15 is also a major North to South traffic artery, and the Calle 10 intersection is one of its major East-West choke points - lots of traffic noise, including traffic cops (whistles) and fender-benders (skreee-clunk).

Good points all around.

U2girlie, the park is a bit worry some for me. Not only the loud music and people but there always seems to be a spotlight shining there that is really bright....don't need that cing thru the window.

Doc, we discussed how busy 15th is. As usual, we won't be there that often during the day and hoping the tequila fog we r usually in helps us sleep thru the street noise.....IF we choose it.

Have a few others in the running too. Thanks!

If you want that area, have you tried looking at Maya Bric, or Hotel Copa on 5th? There are some small hotels around that can offer good deals.

Also, October thru early to mid-November is not particularly busy - in fact, often quite slow - so you shouldn't have much trouble shopping around for hotel space once you're here, with maybe better prices in 'costlier' hotels that would be happy to have your business when there isn't any business. So, you might be able to make an initial short-term reservation, then shop around. Just a thought...

Both of those have been looked at other times and deemed not acceptable, haha. Our cut list was down to these

Club Yebo (forgot this one)
Hotel Posada Sian Ka'an
La Tortuga
Acanto
Riviera del Sol
Luna Blue
Soho
El Acuario
Xtudio
Las Golondrinas
La Passion
Imagine Hotel Boutique
Hotel Lunata (have always liked this place)
Aqualuna
Hotel Plaza Playa....again like location

We are not putting down places we've stayed at before....Playa Maya is having work done, and have not paid attention to how long they will be down. As you can see I was down to 15, lol. We had friends coming with us, but it looks like work will now keep them away, so goodbye to the fancy condo. I'll keep on doing a little study work.

beam-eye,
Every Oct is slow, but last year it was really slow. We stayed at the AM, and the whole week we never saw one person eat at the restaurant in Soho hotel any evening. I know Luna Blue had like 2 guests...the AM about 6 rooms maybe. What you are saying makes sense. I've made offers on line, and they turn them down this far out, but walking up with cash in hand could land you a great deal if you know the rates going in.

Oh well, Cache is not out of the running by any means, but we will continue to look at these. I like the idea of a low price place so if we want to go to Tulum or Puerto Morales and stay a night, we can just take a bag and leave everything in Playa. Did that last year when we stayed at Tulum for a couple days.

Sue.....Mimi del Sol was in the running until she saw pictures of some of the stoves, etc....hahahaha

I too love the Luna Blue.... and if they have their Halloween party, it will be a very short walk back to your room!

Aug 18th — Oct 3rd.

(Those are nights, meaning the last guests before we close will check out on the morning of Aug 18th, while the first guests to arrive after we re-open will check in on the afternoon/evening of October 4th.)
