My husband and I just got back from our trip to the Mayan Palace. We were not all that impressed. The room was fairly small with extremely uncomfortable beds. The food was very pricey and not all that great, either. The staff was friendly and the pool was beautiful, but there was nothing to do at the resort either. The entertainment was pretty bad. We ended up going to Playa del Carmen every night for dinner, which was very nice. Be careful if you are going to rent a car also. We had reservations with Thrifty (a confirmation number and packet that was sent to us in the mail), but when we got to the airport in Cancun, the man at the Thrifty counter said they had no car available for us, even though we showed him our confirmation. We didn't end up renting a car, which ended up being ok.
