Gahhhh, more raves about Don Chendo....they are closed until September 23 now, so we won't get to go there.

We got an amazing deal for a premium sute @ Privilege Aluxes. It was only a few dollars to add AI so we did that. I'm excited to stay on such a calm beach.

I am giving it 2-3 weeks of watching their Thursday specials on Facebook to see if anything good comes up, before i give in and book Posada del Mar.

Sunday

We decided to walk down the beach and head to La Tarraya for lunch. Its so humid that my camera lens was fogged up for about 30 minutes.

The height of sunburned miserableness.

Garlic fish filet. We ate here a few trips back and enjoyed it, but I think the food quality has gone down. My fish was kind of mushy and unseasoned, with no attempt made to actually sear the fish The prices have gone up too, but its still one of the cheapest fish fillets around.

Fried shrimp was fantastic.

OMG Flickr is killing me. Some sort of bug is telling me that my sharing is restricted. I changed nothing. Now I have to refresh each photo to get the sharing link.

Fish tacos.

Its Sunday, so it was a really busy day on the beach.

Another meal that I am conflicted about. We tried La Mission for dinner tonight. We haven’t been here before, but it was close and the reviews were really good. Maybe my expectations were too high, but Dave and I were disappointed. They give you lots of free stuff, like guac, lime soup, garlic bread, and dessert…and those things were all great. We won’t go back though.

The atmosphere was really pretty and the service was great.

We started with the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were good, very fresh and huge, however, I prefer it when the sauce is no just straight ketchup and sugar…needed some spice or acid. Way too sweet.

And the lime soup was excellent

The kids both got coconut shrimp and they were thrilled with their food. My daughter wanted to drink the sauce. It's a huge portion and they both ate it all. I never even managed to taste the shrimp, but the fruit was nice and ripe.

I had the chicken mole. Again, way way too sweet. Its had a nice flavor the spice mixture was complex, but it didn’t need to taste like a candy bar. The beans and rice were great though.

Dave got the chile rellenos with the sauce on the side. He said it was totally unseasoned and the sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee, but it was nicely fried and crispy, which seems to be rare with chile rellenos.

Later on we stopped in to The Roof bar, but we only lasted for one drink before we went home and passed out.

See, now what were you talking about, you have some great restaurant tips in here! La Mission, a maybe, that coconut shrimp looks great to me- and we'll maybe give La Tarraya a miss.....keep it coming, this is great timing for me, starting to get a bit excited now!

Monday

The boy wants fish tacos. The boy ALWAYS wants fish tacos. I’ve created a monster. We decided to head to the place behind Wah Wah. I have previous described their tacos as “serviceable” but nothing special, but its close and this walking thing is becoming difficult. Unfortunately they are closed on Monday which we find out after we have walked there, so we decide to go to Wah Wah, ya know, because its there.

It’s an absolutely gorgeous day and the water is crystal clear.

I got the Wah wah tacos, because I can’t say no to the Wah Wah tacos. They are so good. So wrong, yet so right.

DSC_0092 by rumseywb, on Flickr

Kids split the buffalo nachos. Besides fish tacos, the boy’s 2nd favorite food is anything with buffalo sauce.

DSC_0093 by rumseywb, on Flickr

Dave got a chicken sandwich, but there was an issue with their bread delivery, so instead of a baguette it came on a hamburger bun and was so huge it had to be cut and stacked 3 filets tall.
