Fish Veracruzana yesterday, smoked ribs with Kathy's cole slaw today. It is nice to cook for a chef and he likes the food.

Tomorrow friends are coming over. We are making sauerkraut. Since we will be working (we are talking 20 heads of cabbage here) I am putting chili in the crockpot. She is bringing aged cheese. Let the fun begin.

about a year ago my SIL declared Sunday..... family day. They have a big outdoor kitchen area /pool etc. She and I cook every Sunday. Sometimes the men cook...... Family and s.o's - friends, nieces, nephews - all are invited. It has really taken off and it keeps the family close. Everyone brings food and helps with the clean up. Kids swim and hang out with cousins.

Today my brother is doing Brisket. Nice day for swimming to - Pool is open year round.

I miss our family days when the kids lived at home....they were always allowed to bring friends, but they were required to be here either way...
Now they have careers, significant others, families, and are not "next door" - we rarely get them all here at the same time....

Octoberfest at our boardwalk today....beer, brats, and fun! It's a beautiful sunny 62 degree day - should be fun!!

That is how it is for us - some show, some don't, Always a crowd. Also a few friends or singles that don't have family. We tend to keep is simple 3-6 and every pitches in. Plus leftovers

TGIF peepsters.....

Long work week with open enrollment next week. Looking forward to some down time and working on refinishing my bench if the weather holds out. If not - movies on the sofa !

I am climbing a mountain tomorrow. I am probably biting off more than I can chew but I need to try. It is more of a very steep hike with rock scrambling but it is almost 2 miles straight up. Once you get there the view of the Hudson are amazing. You can see everything from West Point to NYC. I will also be on the sofa all day Sunday, rain or shine, since I doubt I will be able to move. Enjoy!

Fall colors are just about perfect, now, too.

Sunrise here this morning (yeah I know, you can't see colors)

Hey now! I can see colors, I am just really bad at distinguishing them. I got the primary colors down, it's the others that trip me up. That is a beautiful sunrise.
