Weekend Party Thread

Ok it has been a while since this thread ran short of oxygen. Roni is on Mexico time, Uno has the pre wedding vow jitters and no one else has picked it up.

SO WHAT THE HECK IS EVeRYONE DOING THIS LONG WEEKEND?
We are tiling a backsplash in the newly redone kitchen. 10 feet long by 12 3/4inches high. This should almost finish the kitchen disaster.
If that gets done I want to finish my "fishing box". Building a box that holds tackle box x 2 box of plastic bait, worm box and two poles and can be pulled by a small roller dolly.
Will fire up smoker Monday with something.

Okay, you got my attention.

I have a fishing/camping closet in the garage. Tackle boxes for bass/warm water fish, salmon/steelhead, fly fishing, and trout. Then some small ones I can load and drop in a backpack pack.

This is the final "summertime family fun" weekend. Thank gawd! One more camp out, one more crab boil. I'm going out with a bang on this one. 4 pounds of shrimp, a dozen lobster tails, six dungeness crabs, sausage, corn, and baby red potatoes.

THEN, I will get the November wedding jitters. But first there is hunting season.

Last long weekend at the lake. Do some fishing, take Sammy to the state park, hit the harvest festival at one of the local towns, mow the lawn and get my final batch of amaretto fudge before the candy shop closes for the season.

No great plans. We have had our party plans and action this week. Friends from Vancouver Island arrived Monday. Been eating, cooking, drinking, hiking and laughing since! They are leaving tomorrow. We will see them in Meico in January. Good times!

Notre Dame opening football weekend. Excited to see the new Under Armor clothing line and the new turf field. Rain predicted, so that stinks. But it's a magical place nonetheless, and yes, I'm a football geek. There is no such thing as too much college football in one weekend, starting tonight!!

That was us, too. We had our guests this past week. This weekend will be strictly family time before I go back to work- some combo of beach/garden/park/grilling will likely happen

We just booked last week, Syl! It's a great feeling, isn't it?

We had around 3 inches of rain in short order. Had water in the kitchen, dining room, living room and entry hallway. The rain overwhelmed the capacity of the drain on the side patio. Squeegee, towels, fans, AC a few hours later and we are dry again. Buying some sandbags for the kitchen door tomorrow. That is where all the water came in.

Made some game hens on the grill tonight with some rice pilaf and a fresh garden salad. Then picked and sliced another dehydrator load of tomatoes and got that going.

Now it's repack the SUV with the camping gear from 2 weeks ago. ( I was at least smart about it and never put it away. Just stacked it in the front of the garage for the re-set.)

Pack the dry goods and stage the coolers for tomorrow. One dry, one cold food, one drinks.

Work tomorrow, load coolers, get to camp, set up camp, try and do all this by sunset so I can fish and drink beer in between camp chores.

Saturday will be nice. Listen to the Duck game on the radio while fishing and drinking beer. Then the Big Boil. Maybe a twilight paddle on the river in the kayaks. Or maybe a chair and a nap on the riverbank. I'm not making any decisions until the time comes.

I am in bed and bored... I was supposed to fly out to Tonga tomorrow but fell sick on tuesday so I had to cancel that. The trip was supposed to be a 7-week-vacation that I had been preparing and looking forward to for over a year. I went to several health-checks two weeks ago and all was fine. Well, just shows that you can never be 100 % sure of anything.

I will be a happy 'in bed' though as I learned this morning that the specialist sees no reason why I should not be able to fly out in two weeks. I will fly directly to Vanuatu (2.5 hours from Brisbane) then which was supposed to be the second country of my trip. Now it will be the first. Although I am sad about missing Tonga I am happy that I can still do the remaining part of the trip.

So, let's party...

I know the feeling... I am on the 6th floor and still had a wet bedroom carpet twice over the past weeks...
