Smile RDPC: Royal Suite Beachfront Swim Up Honeymoon (September 22nd-29th)

Hello everyone,

My fiance and I, have spent days trying to find accurate information and pictures about the beachfront swim up suites at the Royal Del Playa Carmen. This site has helped us tremendously.

We're getting married on September 20th and we will be flying into Cancun on September 22nd staying at the RDPC for 7 nights. We've took the recommendation of another poster and will be booking round trip transportation from the airport to the resort with Canada Transfers for $100 altogether. (This is a deal since the resort is an hour away from car)

We booked a Royal Suite Beachfront Swim Up room and we are very excited about our honeymoon. This is the first time out of the country for the both of us. I'm rambling on so i'll try to make the rest short.

We will be posting pictures and updates daily to share our experience. This site helped us, so if anyone else is wondering about certain room types or etc please let us know. We will do our best to send you a picture or information of the requested info.

Does anyone have any tips or advice for the resort? Restaurants? The City? Tours? Etc....

Also if you've stayed in any of the Beachfront Swim Up rooms please share your thoughts. We're trying to decide which side of the resort to stay on. The side with 4 rooms, more private but this is the side with the construction going on next door.
Or the side with 6 of the beachfront swim up rooms? If anyone has any experience with these rooms please let us know which one you would recommend.

Thanks in advance!

The resort offers a few "free" tours, as part of the entertainment, they have a bike tour that takes you pass some ruins, instead of the longer, all day trips that they offer. All of the restaurants are good and definitely worth a try at least once. This will be our 6th trip back and we stayed away from the Mediterranean restaurant on the quiet side because we tried it once and thought it was so-so. However, after our visit last year, we are making it our first stop for lunch on our arrival day this upcoming October! Room service is a must try, and if you don't see something on the menu, just ask. This goes for any of the restaurants as well. Pelicanos' was always our favorite breakfast spot because of the breakfast burrito which was taken off the menu, however, Chef Rudy prepared it for us on two occasions again. You won't be disappointed. Just try them all!

We are going on our 1 year anniversary trip in the beginning of October so I will definitely be using your trip report as the most recent info hub. Post lots of updates and advice. Most of all HAVE A BLAST!!

It's your honeymoon, enjoy each others company and a break away from wedding planning and reality. You only get one honeymoon, try to remember that.

Thanks so much for the advice. We've had a very long but very special day today. We are now officially husband and wife. The wedding and reception were remarkable.

We leave tomorrow for Charlotte then flying out Monday morning. Will update daily with pictures and opinions!

Any questions or requests please let me know.

Congratulations!

You will love your honeymoon at the Royal. We stayed in a beachfront swim-up room ourselves about 18 months ago. See our trip report for photos of Room 512.

Be sure to let the hotel know that you are celebrating your honeymoon and they will add a few extra touches for you.

Have a great time! We'll be back at the RPDC ourselves in late November...

I requested the same exact room after reviewing your trip report a few weeks ago. Online check in has been down, so I called today I found out our room number........512!!

We're very excited! We fly out 6am in the morning. I'm regretting booking such an early flight but it'll be worth it

By the way, any "must do's" or "must try" things/food/tips we should be aware of?

All of the restaurants are amazing, but my personal favorite was always Asiana. We stayed clear of the mediteranean one on a few visits and then our last visit (November 2013), we couldn't get enough of it! They will literally make anything you request! Paco works there and he is amazing. If you can, ask for him. Also a must (and this is no longer on the menu but they will make it for you), is the breakfast burrito at Pelicano's. Delish!!! We participated in some of the crazy games, that was always fun. You must attend the white party if they have it (I think it's next door now). That was a great time. Also, Il Pescatore next door at the Gran Porto is really good if you like Italian! Honestly I wouldn't even waste my time on Spice. For a buffet it's really good, but there are just so many other options! We did enjoy Spice for lunch because they had a make your own pasta station which was really good. But we spent most of our time getting tacos at Tapas Pinxtos.

Thank you for the reply! We arrived yesterday and the transfer from the airport to the hotel from Canada transfers service was remarkable. Once we past customs they had us in a private van within 5 minutes sippin of a few cold ones.

I'll post several pictures and a review of our first day later this evening.

Enjoy your trip, you will love the Royal! Star clear of the sales sharks, we bough the deal years ago and when new owners bought the property they won't honor our membership, they wanted $19,000 more to renew it. Yep, $19000!

It's been a very busy honeymoon week so far

Lot's of rain so we gotta stay busy

Our first flight ever (both of us) didn't go as planned. We flew Southwest (who has an open seat policy). I paid $10 a piece for priority boarding and that sure didn't happen. We were within the last 10 people to board the plane. Didn't even get to sit beside my beautiful new Wife! We managed to get close enough to hold hands however.

Second flight my wife used her charm to get us upgraded to business class for free. Was an experience to remember that's for sure!!

Here's a few pictures:

After arriving in Cancun, Canada Transfer quickly took our bags and showed us to our private transfer van.

They had us plenty of nice cold beverages waiting

Beautiful view after finally arriving

Waiting for our Suite 512 to be ready

Finally!! More than satisfied with the room

LOTS OF RAIN THIS WEEK

Still wondering what this thing is:

Picture of the construction

We have many more pictures to upload. I've been having too much fun to do so.
My wife is a little upset about the beach and the ocean. I would not even recommend the beach. But the service, food, town, pool, rooms, and everything else has been top notch!
We leave Monday so we're hoping to enjoy our final nights. We have a reservation for Italian next door tomorrow and the Chef's plate on Sunday.

Will post more picks here soon!

Those shots of Rm 512 sure bring back memories. If the rain lets up, be sure to make use of your designated beach bed....

Tapas & Pintxos is one of our favourite places to eat at the RPDC - totally underrated and there's almost always a table available.

Enjoy your honeymoon!

great memories of that place....not sure we would ever do an all inclusive again, but if we did, it would probably be The Royal.
