Looking for non AI, on the beach, quiet

My girlfriend and I are coming to PDC at the end of May. We pray that someone on this forum can give us a suggestion as to a non-AI hotel that is (1) walking distance to Quinta Avenida, (2) upscale, (3) on the beach, and (4) quiet.
We stayed before at the Continental Plaza. The location and beach were perfect, but the hotel was sub-par. We have read a great deal of positive reviews about Playa Maya, but we wonder if it will be too noisy given that it is so close to the strip. Any thoughts?

If it is available check the Playa Maya. It fits your needs to a t. The only problem is it is popular and may be full.

Go to the links at the top and check for accommodations, there are many listed there that are a good deal through this site.

At the risk of sounding biased, I'd say it would be hard to find a better combination of central and quiet than we are. Check out the comments here or on our site if you want to see what people have to say.

Availability may be a problem, as Critter says, but you can always write me to see! And remember that with us (or, yes, with any of the hotels on the PlayaInfo Directory), you can receive the Playa Deal Card for free.

Windy City,

I'm not biased, and the Playa Maya is quiet. While difficult to explain, when you see how it is situated with the beach access and being protected by other buildings, you will see that there is no way 5th avenue noise will be heard. It is nice in many other ways also. We were there in Feb.

Regards,
BW

The Playa Maya isn't THAT nice

My wife and I were looking for the exact things you were. We stayed at the Playa Maya and had a wonderful stay.

We were there New Year's Eve and I fell asleep at 9 pm with the door open to the terrace letting in the cool ocean breeze. With so many folks making their way down to the beach to party and watch the sun rise I would think this would be one of the loudest evenings of the year. I didn't hear a thing.

Now that does stretch the limits of reasonable credibility, not because of the noise issue but just the idea that Manitou would be falling asleep 3 hours before the crucial moment on New Year's Eve...

Steve

You do have a good point there. He was probably taking a nap so he could go out around 11 to party the night away.

First of all, that was the day after BFE II, so I was still mending. And thanks Critter for the benefit of the doubt, but no, it was full on out like a light sleep. I did find it really didn't matter in regard to partying as I was quite surprised to see hundreds of people on the beach at 6:00 am waiting for the sun to come up. Every other morning I had the place to myself with my camera, tripod, Playa Maya coffee, and iPod! On New Year's Day it was a completely different scene.

Playa Maya

Have to add one more nodd to the Playa Maya...for being on the beach, friendly, clean, and yet just steps from the action.
