Thank you Susie Q Roo, for that and for all your honest assessment of the crowds, etc. It helped a bunch and I totally appreciate direct and blunt.

Can't wait!!

You all have been GREAT! Shammy- thanks so much for your help in 'thinking through' our options. The time you took to thoughtfully answer is much appreciated as I definitely have a better idea of what to expect and I think we'll be good with it (Puerto Morelos). The house we wanted is now being used by the owner that week, but I found another. No private pool, but it's on the beach.

Yay- so excited!

I hope you come back and tell us what your experience is and if you'd do it again. I'm sure you'll have a good time, and you were wise to do your research in order to land on an option that looks like it will work out great for you!

haha this is an interesting thread, seeing as my spouse and I intentionally booked our trip to PDC during semana santa! I was searching the forum for anything Easter related to see what's 'happening' around the town!

We're heading to Playa a month later than our usual and I guess from the above it's actually going to be a really busy time of the year. Arriving Holy Saturday, the day after Good Friday, is there anything we should know? ...

Sounds like restaurants and bars are open but packed? Beach will be extra busy. You'd expect a place like Yan Ten at the bottom of 4th to be extra busy? Are there any special restrictions on sale of alcohol....?

Well! I guess that means no bars will be closed! . (But does it mean I'll be bringing a small bottle of maple syrup?)

Not that isn't already covered in the previous posts on this thread. Or not that comes to mind, anyway. Might want to check those out, if you haven't already.

I had better skip it after reading the article below. Thanks anyway .

MAPLE SYRUP [check the article below - Canadian Pure Maple syrup]:
"It is alarming how little maple syrup is actually in our maple syrup. Companies have been reducing the high cost of maple syrup as far back as 1887 by using artificial sweeteners. They've been selling increasingly synthetic sugar goop ever since. This strategy has proved so successful that the closest some of our bestselling syrups have been to a tree is the picture on the label of the plastic bottle they come in.
The problem has gotten bad enough that maple-producing industry trade groups are ready to take it to the top. In response to the tidal wave of fake maple syrup overtaking supermarket shelves, producers have demanded that the FDA put an end to the deception and remove the word “maple” from all labels (including flavored oatmeal and ice cream) that don’t contain the actual ingredient."

Thanks, I did read the entire thread. Which was my intention when I searched it out. There was no mention of there being restricted alcohol sales but it is my impression that on some holidays there are reduced hours or possibly no sales permitted. The last post was a year ago so it seemed appropriate to enquire.

Al, that's something that doesn't cross my threshold. A friend developed a very nice maple syrup business on his family lands after he retired. He doesn't buy any "make-up" sap or syrup from other suppliers, he doesn't use colouring or any other additives. It's pretty good stuff. It's all pre-sold a year or more in advance. You may not recall but I brought you a bottle a few years ago.

I have not forgotten and thanks again. It was great. I have my own waffle maker at home so the real maple syrup went to good use.
I thought the article was interesting as it shows a bottle of maple syrup from Canada.
Hope to see you and Roberta soon.
