Palladium veterans! Need advise
I have a question regarding the Palladium and hope those of you that have been there can help. I have been to Playa 3 times. Stayed at the Ib* Tucan twice and the Palace once. Loved both especially the beach. The Palladium looks beautiful and has received very positive reviews but one thing concerns me. We will be going back in November with our adult children 20yrs. & 19 yrs.
The area of Playacar is so convient for a walk to the shopping plaza or even the 5 min taxi to town. I am afraid we may feel isolated or trapped being so far away from this. I know the resort is HUGE that's not the issue It just felt good getting out of the resort from time to time for a short while. Walking the beach is great but we tend to get cabin fever although still love the all inclusive deal. Is there anywhere to walk to if we wanted to leave the resort? I don't mean tours or excursions but just a short walk outside the resort with some people interaction. This probably sounds crazy, wanting to leave a beautiful resort but I'm just not the type to ever do a two week vacation! One week no matter how beautiful an area, and I'm ready to get back to my one home. Hope you all can shed some light! Don't want to feel bored! Help! |

Pretty isolated
You're pretty isolated here. The collectivos do stop right in front of the resort, we used them to go to Tulum and to Playa. They're probably your best bet when you want to get off the resort. We also walked down to a little shopping spot one day, when you get off the resort turn left, it was probably a bit more than a KM walk to get there. It was a little scary because of the traffic, and if I were to do it again we'd probably use collectivo, or wear better shoes and walk further in off the road.
We had a great time there, and usually left the resort every 2nd or 3rd day for some type of adventure, usually using the colletivos. Have fun. |

Palladium
Hi! I think I can almost qualify... we will be returning for our 4th trip back this July... I never got the feeling of being "trapped". They have alot of planned activities and since it is a big resort, it took a few days to actually see everything it had to offer.. We did take a collectivo to Playa del Carmen to shop and go to a cheap internet hut. We don't like to sit still too long either, but felt that if we didn't relax and enjoy the place, we would regret it when we got home. If you have 3 excursions planned, that should keep you busy. Have a great time and if you have any other questions, you can E mail me..EileenS
